Hey, those chicks came knowing they would be spoiled...lol.
They will eat from FF's lil girls hands even. That is how I like my birds, then when you have to handle them, you know they will not be completely stressed out.
LOL- Roger (my lil roo cochin) what a brat, he flew out over my head while I was trying to get him into the hutch that you saw (split it in 1/2 until they get a little wiser and more feathers)needless to say, he landed on the ground, happy, wooohooo he was jumping and flopping I swear I could hear him hi five the air. I groaned, reached down and he walked over to me to pick up. WOW, now that was something else, miracle of sorts!
I hope who gets the cochins will find the same fun I had raising them to the point of time when you took them home.

Well, I am finding that we are doing well with the Chinese Auction table, so far we have :
Baskets, basket kit, cook books, pie, and many styles of plants, other items that I am not sure of yet.
If anyone would like to donate items, feel free! The more items we have the more fun it will be.

I will also be bringing a old fashioned incubator with the oil lamp, draws wire and cloth, also the glass door to look in. Reminds me of a sewing machine cabinet. It will be for sale and make sure you stop by and see it. I also believe we will have misc cook books for sale, not sure what they are at this point.

I placed a note at the Norway Vets office about the Maine Chickenstock event.

Sounding like more and more fun!

Join us Sunday July 27 (9-1) Litchfield Fairgrounds for Maine ChickenStock 2008

I will be going to this! If anyone lives far away from me who wants anything I have for sale- speak! LOL I'll only have room for 6-8 of my chicken transport crates, plus sale birds........if peeps are really interested in the transport crates, i.e. we need to have more than 6-8 there, I can get my brother to bring his pick up truck.

I have silkies, polish crested, rhode island red bantams, turkens/naked necks, call ducklings, black east indie adult trios, a few black east indie ducklings, and guinea keets to bring!

yes they do but they are in MASS mostly, and very few of them will come up here even to the shows. I'll see if I can find a membership app, maybe I can print them off to have there.....also will check on same for Central Maine bird fanciers...

I placed a message with the Paris Farmers Union to see if they would be interested to send a rep and also feed, chick starter and grain to the fair grounds. I should be hearing more on Monday from the "donation" man, hey, I asked for a donation for the chinese auction table.
Keep your fingers crossed!!

So far I have been very surprised that none of the feed store wanted to send someone to the show. If Paris Farmers isn't a go, what about if I contact BlueSeal, Poulin or one of the other companies directly? I know they have come to other events to talk about nutrition and such.

I really hope Paris Farmers Union takes you up on the offer. Their store in Winthrop is not that far from the FairGrounds.

Since I have NO clue how many people are planning to attend ChickenStock, I'm planning to buy and bring enough stuff for about 200 people. If anyone thinks my estimate is grossly off either way, please let me know! I have made up little sandwich order forms so that we can make your sandwiches to order. We'll have a choice of cold drinks, chips, brownies, cookies, whoopie pies, and fresh fruit. Any other ideas are still invited!

I wish I could help you with an idea on attendance. But I have no clue. I hope we have 200 people that would be great.
