Maine Swaps 2011

Quote:
The swaps are a great way to meet your fellow local chicken keepers and buy, sell or trade poultry. You'll be surprised at the offerings at some of these swaps, it's not just chickens but guineas, quail, ducks, etc and even things like chicken decorations. TSC also has Farm Swaps (I forget the real name of it) that are more broad than just poultry.

I'm pretty local to you... so hi neighbor!

I'm so glad you're going to be part of the Easter Hatch! The directions are right on the Hatch Link once you click it:

BYC Easter Hatch

1. Click on "edit"
2. Drag the marker on the map to your location
3. Add your name
4. Hit "save"
5. Hit "done"
6. Do not put your name in this box. PM me (SCG) if you cannot get this to work and I'll add you. Thanks.

You have to have a google account to do it but they're free to sign up.

And here's the link to the Easter Hatch for those of you wondering what we're talking about:

Eggs get set on Saturday so you still have plenty of time to join... and for Mainers wanting to join along that are within driving distance to Disgusta I'll be happy to throw in some free turken cross eggs (50% will hatch NN, 50% will be regular feathered mutts) from my mutt flock if you need hatching eggs!

central maine bird fanciers will offer a youth poultry program
Youth Program
On Sunday, April 17th, we will be offering our annual Youth (and anyone else interested) Education Program. This will take place on the same day as our monthly club meeting. Austin Brann will be available starting at 10:30 a.m. to do Pullurom testing on your birds. Coffee will be available. At 11:00 a.m., we will begin the education program. Sarah Castle, one of our premier Junior exhibitors, will talk about the top 5 things a competitor should focus on in preparing for showmanship. Allison Flagg will teach the parts of a chicken and parts of a duck, with real birds to demonstrate. These are things all poultry enthusiasts should know. Linda Blackman will touch upon general guidelines for poultry show room etiquette.
At noon, we will have our pot luck meal, followed by our business meeting at 1 p.m.. We will finish up with our ever-popular auction and 50/50 drawing. Feel free to bring birds, fertile eggs, and other items to donate to the auction as all proceeds go back into the club treasury.
So plan to get out into the Spring sunshine and join us for this fun and informative day. Everyone is invited!
this will be held at the washington evening star grange hall in washington, maine.
