Fun animal antics for the week.

Cat brought home a squirrel almost as big as him that he then consumed with the exception of the tail.
-Same cat brought home a vole tonight and has been a great chipmunk slayer with four in the past two weeks
-Oddly enough he backed away from the Golden Comet pullet who took issue with him getting just a wee bit too close

Horse decided to get out this morning at 6 am. He and his buddies had finished off the round bale of hay during the night and he decided he did not want to wait until 730 this morning for me to unload the round bale that was in the back of the truck

Puppy managed to get her head stuck in an empty gallon milk jug. Yes I do have pictures but not sure if I should post them since some people might not find the humor in it. She was only trapped for a few minutes and is fine. And yes I did laugh at her.

The Midget White tom turkey I just acquired thinks he is the boss. Hopefully I have not had an audience to witness me chasing the jerk around the yard. All is good when I have food. He is really calm and friendly then. But without food he wants to challenge me every chance he gets. The past couple days his challenges have been half-hearted so maybe he is learning that the one who brings the food is the one to be nice to if he does not want to be invited to Thanksgiving.

Want my wether? Then we both have 2.
Nope unless the older Nubian goes downhill really fast and I find myself in need of a new companion for the little Nigerian. I would rather find the Nigerian a new home. So you could take her and then have a nice round number of 4.

Sorry, I'm about 3 days behind.

I am not buzz clipping, it's actual mustache scissors. And it was one thing that my ex left in the house that was actually worthwhile.

I have an opportunity to keep the nubian doe that I've been raising for a few months now. Only problem is now I also have to take back by nubian wether. I'm starting to feel like GoatMath (TM) is taking over.

for you goat people, big sale at the somerset auction house in fairfield on Saturday. their annual sheep and goat sale.
sale starts at 1:00.

GOOOOO GoatMath!!!

This is close to my house, so you could stop by on your way.....

I could easily get into goat math, especially seeing the absolutely adorable kids at the Cumberland Fair. They are just so interactive and personable. Lucky for my husband, we have nowhere to keep them... this year. ;-)

Non-chicken question for those of you with gardens. I have raised beds that are an absolute disaster with weeds. They haven't been planted for at least two seasons, or so the previous owners told me. Is there any way to winterize them that would minimize the weeds that grow back in the spring? (I have essentially no garden experience.)
