Maine

:frow . Of all the jobs I have had I must say being a zoo keeper is hands down my favorite. Crappy pay and having to work in all sorts of weather were worth it to work with some of the animals I had the chance to know. Would go back to it in a heartbeat if Maine had any accredited zoos. I worked at Lincoln Park in Chicago, the crappy place in PA and also at Lion Country Safari in Florida. My favorites are the big cats. Not overly fond of primates other than lemurs. Like the reptiles, especially alligators, but getting bit by a 12 ft Burmese python was one of my less than stellar career moments. But it has made for a great story.
I love lemurs. I also had a gibbon named Eddie that stole my heart. Honestly, my favorite animal was the porcupine. I also enjoy bragging that I can wrangle an alligator and handle venomous snakes (though you wouldn't see that fearless person in me when a mouse gets in my house).

I was perusing the real estate ads for some of the more pricey Maine properties just in case I win the lottery. Found some nice ones ranging from 100 acres to 880 acres. I think they might be large enough for raising some birds.

.Of course they all had slide shows and I found myself looking for any outbuildings or sheds that could be converted to coops. Or if none were seen I looked for areas on the property where I could put some.

I do much of the same thing, Widget. Glad to see you look in Maine, and don't have those ideas of "if I win...I'm moving to _____". Keep the fortunes, skip the fame, buy a massive farm. Same exact plans I've got. Cheers!

There is a property not too far from my house that I drive by and dream about. They just put it up for sale. It has a beautiful 1800s farmhouse on it, lush green rolling fields, nestled along the Saco River. I can't even imagine what it would sell for.

You could always look it up! Gotta have your budget handy for when you win that powerball, am I right???

. That is why I also have an idea as to what vehicles I want to try out. I watch way too much Top Gear so I definitely have some high end cars on the list. Guess I will also need a place with a multiple car garage just for the toys.

I have lived other places but my roots are deep in Maine. Would not want to have to ship in Moxie or Italians just to satisfy a craving. Not to say I wouldnt look into buy a condo or vacation home in a more tropical climate. Thinking Abaco island in the Bahamas but only because two of the dogs I have owned came from there. Other than that I would just travel to all the places I have ever wanted to visit.

More photos of the "rare exotic" who's ready to help ID this chick?!

A little more coloring has come through, and I'm noticing the shanks are partially black like the barred rocks.

Maybe a maran? Maybe a BR cockerel? Who knows?!

Have you tried the "Breed & Sexing" category of the forums? Those people rock at figuring this stuff out. I have no clue.
