Also, will there still be a fairly nice display of birds at the Windsor Fair on Friday? That's when I'll be going with my family...

I strongly dislike all of you.

I just got power back this afternoon after four very, very , very long days. Thank goodness I had filled every available container with water. Otherwise it would have been really bad. As it was the ducks' kiddie pool was just plain disgusting when I was finally able to clean it tonight. And having a shower available at work was fantastic.
On a positive not the horses' shelter survived.

It is leaning a bit more than it was but it is still standing. In fact the only casualty was the clothesline pole. That went within the first few hours. And of course all the food in the fridge and freezer. But now I can clean both out and start again.

I'm saying black laced, maybe she's really blue with black lacing but her blue is very dark. I had thought to keep her but decided on the black wyandotte pullet instead.

widget, sorry you hear you were out so long. in the last ice storm, we were out for 10 days, thankfully got the last available generator at home depot or it would have been an even longer 10days.

I now know I am not cut out to be Amish. I did catch up on some reading but that was only good until the sun went down. Hard to read in the dark.

So I was in bed by 730 and up around 430. Didn't sleep well since it was too quiet. Except for one of the dogs panting. Loudly. She usually sleeps in front of a fan so without it she was a bit too warm even with the windows open. One night it was so bad I finally got up and went out to the couch for a couple hours leaving the dogs in the bedroom. Funny how I, the owner, end up on the couch while they got to have the nice comfy bed.
At least I didn't have anything in the incubator and the babies in the brooder are old enough to not need any heat. But being without the internet, cable or even a radio was not fun. I like quiet but not that much nor for that long. Although the ducks were entertaining to watch. They are like a gang. All of them roamed the yard looking for yummy things. My poor horse had to fight to get to his grain. The ducks would mob him and steal it. Then they would move off and go harass the goats for their grain. By sundown they would again move as one and go back to the pen to be shut in for the night. It is funny to watch the little call ducks try and keep up with the muscovies.

Hey everyone, glad to see everyone weathered a the storm OK.. It was not fun, and I of course had eggs in my bator!

Tried to maintain temp with candles, we will see what becomes of it in 7 days.. Argh.. All our animals did well, but watering 23 horses with no pump is NOT fun! Thankfully we were a little proactive and had filled everything we could beforehand, and got a generator running long enough to turn on the pump the last day before power came back on. I am looking for a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Bantam Roo if anyone has one available~he will have his own flock of ladies..

I have one bird for sale at the windsor fair- brought 2, sold one today. the one left is a citrus (very pale buff) silkie hen. she is the only buff I had so decided to sell her.

Is she still at the fair for sale? I am heading down to the fair today and am looking for some hens..we shall see if anymore are there!! Here's hoping!
