make sure to go a bit longer on your incubation - add 1 day for each day you were out of electric as it could extend your hatch date. I knew where you could get a blr bantam roo about 2 weeks ago but the lady has sold out for the season.

I have one bird for sale at the windsor fair- brought 2, sold one today. the one left is a citrus (very pale buff) silkie hen. she is the only buff I had so decided to sell her.

Is she still at the fair for sale? I am heading down to the fair today and am looking for some hens..we shall see if anymore are there!! Here's hoping!

I was at the fair yesterday, there was not much for sale at that time except for one rooster....

I have 24 Buckeye chickens for sale they are 3 months old and I am selling EVERYTHING! Wish this wasn't the case but apparently this isn't the right lifetime for me to raise farm animals. I have multiple water jugs, feeders, a few cages and 5 bantams Old English as well.

Would love to get a decent price (thinkin $200.00) for all but am curious if anyone is even interested.

Irene

she sold last night to another BYC'er.
there are still a few birds for sale, not much for hens if I remember right. there are several notices posted at the door of the poultry building for birds that are not there but are for sale.
I have 2 silkies that are young- too young for the show a black and a white- about 7 weeks old that I will be bringing to the augusta tractor supply swap on sept 10th or 11th not sure what day I am going) as well as wyandottes, 1 white pullet and 2 cockerals- 1 white, 1 splash. then that is the last of the sale birds until what I just hatched is grown out more.

** forgot to brag* my son won 2nd in the jr showmanship this afternoon with his splash silkie.

i wonder if there would be anything left for sale birds tommorow night. i have to work all day tommorow. so probably alot will be sold before i get there. also who brings the birds to sell. the people that have birds in the show i assume.

blue seal, did you find anything at the fair you wanted? I hear people are bringing in more birds each day as cages open up- you might try another day (tomorrow is the last day)
you can also post a card at the door saying you are looking for XYZ

there is a 2 days swap in augusta next weekend, sat and sunday- farm days the first day and just poultry small animal the 2nd.
you might post what you want on that thread see if anyone has what you want or pm me and I'll keep a look out.

i didnt bother to go up to the fair. i will probably go to one of the swaps next weekend in augusta. basically im looking for a couple hens that will go broody for next year. hatchout some chicks next year.

Anyone have any true Ameraucana pullets or young hens? or blue laced red wyandottes? Looking for a couple if anyone can help a fellow mainah out.

Looks like we will have another swap location soon. Just read that there is a TSC being built in Windham. Scheduled to open in February of next year.

. It is going up at 496 Roosevelt Trail (Rt 302) near Pope Rd. That is a bit south of the main shopping areas of Windham. This is great news for me since that means I can get all my shopping done in one area instead of having to drive all the way to Scarborough and then to Windham for other necessities. Now all I need is a bookstore in the area and I will be really happy.

On a completely non-chicken related topic has anyone else experienced Hannaford's new checkout lines? Not sure if any store other than the Standish one has converted but I know that is the ultimate goal.

Basically the lines are now like those at banks or airport check-ins (minus the security nightmares). You get into one line and once you reach the front of that line you go to the next available register. So it doesn't matter if you have only two items and the ten people in front of you have 100. You have to wait in line behind them. There are no 14 item or less line. There are also a couple of self check outs for small orders which are great as long as the people using them know what they are doing. Can you tell I really like the new system

Since the switch I have seen long lines even in the middle of the day. Customers have just left their carts and walked out not happy. And several customers trying to use the self checkouts and not knowing how to even scan an item. Now I know not everyone has worked retail but we have all shopped and watched the cashier scan products. It isn't that difficult.

I know Gorham has started remodeling for the switch but has sort of put it on hold due to the feedback from Standish. Yet when I emailed their customer service saying how I didn't like the system the reply I received said that I was in the minority and that this way was going to be much better in the long run and I should just give it a chance. I have. Now I only go there when I really need something. Too bad since I pass the store on my way home from work.

I'm with you, I'd shop elsewhere. it just doesn't work when one person has 14 items ( too many to self check) and if someone gets behind me, I always apologize since I use a gazillion coupons and that takes way longer. I'd also be one of those to leave my cart and walk out, done it plenty of times in other stores that just don't have enough checkers and lines are too long to make it worth the wait.
