Maine

I'm going Sunday, it's supposed to be clear with a high of 80 degrees! I even got sitters or my 2 older kids, so I hope to get to enjoy some areas other than the kid's section! (Though, the kids section is wonderful.)

My Blue Splash Maran is looking so pretty right now, and my favorite Olive Egger, and chicken porn, sorry but I think it's hilarious. I followed Smokey all over the yard tring to get him to hold still or a picture and this was all I managed to get. He is a Blue Copper Maran and is crossing with my Olive Egger mutts... we'll see what hatches!

(If anyone wants eggs pm me in a couple months when the eggs are up to a good size. I'll try to remember to re-offer then.)

That is a cool-looking olive egger. I guess I never saw one with Colombian/light Brahma markings.

Thanks, she is a true mutt I'm afraid. The rooster was a true Ameraucana (supposedly) but I don't know which hen was her mother, either a New Hampshire Red or a Golden Comet oddly enough. As a chick she was all brown with dark brown stripes, we call her "Brownie" still. "Stripey" and "Duck" are sisters of hers they were lighter as chicks with the same stripes, but are now red/orange with black markings similar to brownie's. They also lay olive eggs. My White Leghorn crosses from the same hatch are laying pretty light blue eggs. I'm hoping they will have smaller combs like the Ameraucanas, but lay as well as a leghorn. They are white and smaller bodied shaped like a leghorn, but have random 'splash' black feathers. LoL. I'm just having fun with my mutts.

Hey all Mainers:
Earlier this summer I purchased two adorable bantam cochin babies from the TSC Sanford swap. They are about 3 months old now and I am positive one is a roo. The man I had purchased him from was younger and had a boat load of birds and I never did get his info! He mentioned he'd swap for a girl if i found out one was a roo (I'm not supposed to have roosters in town and hes getting awfully noisy ;-) I'm not sure if he'd still honor that now that we are three months into it? If not, I am looking to trade these two as a pair to someone who may want to swap two LG cochins to us? We love the cochins! Really really do but I am noticing the female is getting picked on by my older golden comets. I dont' want to separate them as it will be easier to introduce two new birds rather than one (IMO.) They are both blue, the roo is developing some golden feathers around his head now that hes maturing, not sure if this is normal or desirable but the female is really sweet, will let me pet her even. They have been in a coop/outdoor pen, and free ranging when we are supervising as they discovered the garden.

Anyone know who this gentleman may be? Or know who may want to trade or buy these two sweethearts?

Backyard chicks are still new to us but I was looking for a new bird for friendliness rather than laying and was really taken by these cochins. Not sure if the LGs will be just as friendly? Anybody have any LG cochin hens? If can sell these two as a pair i'll buy two from someone else if have to.
I am in Kennebunk.

Maybe the gentleman was "Quailfamah" - that's his username on this site.

are you sure the person is even on BYC? the trip for quailfarma would be quite a haul to sanford.
you might check with bob stano (stano40 on here) as he runs the sanford swaps, he might know. he seems to check in with everyone at the swaps.

No not sure, was just hoping someone knew some names. I am hoping to get to a swap again and bump into him.

Thanks!

Hello everyone, long time no see!
Hope everyone has enjoyed the last couple of months. I have been MIA for a bit, but things seem to be settling down a bit and I think I should be making more regular appearances again.

Now for the sad news (well, sad to me anyway). I have come to the conclussion that my 2 very favorite babies are in fact roos

Beautiful, friendly, boyish roos!! GRRRRRR Because of this I am looking for a home or homes for the 2 fellas. They are approx 12 week old EE's. I would love to find them a nice little flock versus a soup pot. I would really REALLY love to find someone that is interested in trading them for an ee or cochin or similarly mixed mutt hen or 2. I am in the windham area, but could meet in the portland or augusta area if we could find someone interested!

Thanks
