the rooster attacking your 2yo is not that unusal in that, he is dominate to her and most roosters think they are dominant over children. by not showing him you are boss bird, he might try this with you as well. my veiw is that children and mean roosters are a no no. there are nice roosters,it could be your breed choice.

no, all are welcome. there is not gate fee for people coming to buy or just watch the show (there are raffles and an auction as well of not just bird items)
you might bring a container for your new purchases so you don't have to run right home. Tailgate sales are usually set up along the "mall" area of the fairgrounds near the poultry barn and birds in the show may have tags listing them for sale after the judging. there is also a lunch wagon if you get hungry. we try to cover everything.

no they don't for the adult class but they do for the junior class somewhat. they also will if they are judging your bird but technically your not supposed to be in the isle when the judge is judging.

I am so lucky!! I found a home for my little roos through a friend. And the best part (in my oppinion at least) is that these are going to be pet chickens and will have a little flock of their own. I am so excited it worked out that way, as I just don't know how I would have handled them becoming dinner. These are the first little ones we have raised and doesnt it figure that 2 out of the 3 would be boys???

Anyway, that means I am looking for a couple of hens now. Would love some EE's (thats what my boys are) or cochins or some interesting, friendly mixes. Not really picky, just would love something that lays eggs instead of crows! Isnt there one last swap coming up?

there are actually 2 in the augusta area.
there is a show this weekend (sunday) at the windsor fairgrounds 9:00-? with tail gate sales. this will probably give you the best selection of birds if you can make it.
then there is the oct 8th swap at the augusta TSC.

is anyone still in the market for 15 week old pullets?
I have just gotten off the phone with Dr Don Hoeng. he has a few pullets for sale 15 weeks old of various breeds. they came from murray mcmurray and are vaccinated. if interested, give him a call and make sure to leave a message is he doesn't answer. his cell number is 59two-459three.
he said he thought they were wyandottes, austrolopes, white rocks and barred rocks. also maybe a rooster or 2.

I would like to get a list together of those that would like to be poultry testers for the state of maine. This is for the NPIP (national poultry improvement program) this would be for a spring training course. The job doesn't pay anything from the state, it's just what you charge the client. so please pm (or email) me your contact info so in the spring when this is set up, you can be contacted. an email address and or phone number would be ideal. this course is not so you can test your own birds, you must be willing to test the birds of those in your area as well.
