Maybe the gentleman was "Quailfamah" - that's his username on this site.

are you sure the person is even on BYC? the trip for quailfarma would be quite a haul to sanford.
you might check with bob stano (stano40 on here) as he runs the sanford swaps, he might know. he seems to check in with everyone at the swaps.

I am going to try to make it to another farm swap to see if I can find him! Does anyone know anyone who wants to sell or find homes for friendly LG cochins? I dont' care if they are laying anymore or what age they are.

But he was going to sell them to someone he didnt even know, who might not even have the right set up, atleast I have a large chicken coop, and I pay for all my chicken food and shavings and hay by myself. Just spent 40 of my show winnings on food for my animals!

! He said he wanted to take them home and thump them on the head anyways but oh well, not my problem, just thought I would help. Well anyways, I had a fun week!

I'm running out of fairs and work weekends a lot, so haven't made the swaps. I'm really looking to buy a bird or two that go broody. Silkies are fine, or whatever breed, I have a mutt flock anyway. I would just like to try hatching nature's way after trying the incubator. My birds are well cared for and have a beautiful new coop built generously for 20-25 birds and I only have 18. Anyone looking to downsize for the winter? Get a good home for that annoying broody? Want some fertile olive-ish EE eggs in trade/addition to $ for your broody?

you could check CL but be prepared to get birds that day, mine always went within 24 hours of me posting up an ad. I don't have any spare silkies, jsut sold off the last 2 pullets, only a white cockeral left to find a home (how did I miss bringing him to the last swap- I must have forgotten i didn't want to keep him) oh well, another swap in 2 weeks and show is this weekend in windsor.

Yeay!!!! The Windsor show is a weekend I'm not working! I'll go to my first chicken show!

Bad news: My rooster just attacked my 2 year old as she was running across the lawn she is fine other than scratches... he doesn't even have spurs yet. Sigh. This is the first sign of aggression he has shown. Every single rooster I've ever had got like this. I'm trying so hard to do different methods to raise them to be gentle. This one I am not handling, or bothering in any way. I don't even hold the hens when he is near so he won't feel that I'm a threat. Others I've handled and coddled with treats. It just doesn't seem to matter.

Bad news 2: I think my EE has bumble foot. I'll have to grab her when she's away from Smokey and get a closer look, but there is a definite bulge between two toes on her right foot.

Ups and downs in the chicken world.

I just sent in for a family membership to Central Maine Bird Fanciers last week. I thought it might be a hoot to get my 91 YO Mom to show a chicken! Now I have to learn my breed standards to know what I am looking for to show.
