I need help!! My son called me at work that one of our chicks looked dead. I had to convince him to touch it. The chick opened its eyes but that was it. He was born Friday so 4 days old. Active this am now very lethargic. Little reflex when I picked him up. I used a syringe to feed it water. Took it well. I remembered I had Save a Chick packet so I mixed some up and he took a few more. I noticed the bedding was wet. Changed it out quickly dropped the lite back in and placed him back under the light. Now he's laying there asleep but appears to be breathing faster than normal. What else can I do???

So sorry Quail Trail. Such a disappointment.

Tomorrow, I finally get to spend the day at home. Should be able to get in a couple of good solid hours working on the new tractor. Started laying out one panel today, but between Orthodontist and Dr appts, I didn't get much done. My 7 y.o. also has a whole week of school work to make up from her bout with strep throat. She's dragging her heels big time about that... so that's sucking the energy out of my days as well. She'd much rather be helping me with the tractor, and honestly, I enjoy her help. She's a good "go-fer".

My gosh it is nice to see my birds roaming all over the yard! They're even venturing into the woods a bit! They look so pretty! I met a lady the other day who HATES all animals...she has no reason for it...just hates them. I was telling her how care free the chickens are, and what a joy they are to watch, but she wasn't buying it.
I enjoy watching my girls too! I wish they would venture more towards the right of the coop instead of the neighbor's yard, brush pile & pool area!

Such a tiny little box to live in without the joy of animals in her life.
I agree!!

I agree, It is such a pleasure watching them roam the yard! Mine, too, are going farther and farther into the woods on their own. I have to keep a really close eye on them, because I've seen a fox in the yard twice in a week... I imagine he/she would snatch one pretty quickly. I can't imagine not having animals in my life.

Eek! Well, related directly to my previous post... I was just out with the girls and all of a sudden on top of my brush pile were three quizzical little faces looking at us. Fox kits. Interestingly, they were gray, not reddish like last year, even though the two adults I've seen around have been reddish. Anyway, I quickly shooed/grabbed 5 of my 6, but the 6th ran INTO the woods. She was under the evil Japanese barberry and I couldn't get her. I was quite close to letting her choose her own destiny, when she finally came out and I got her back to the coop/run. Time to seriously consider building a tractor.
DH keeps saying when these ones go, No more! I told him I don't think so. I can't imagine coming home to a house without a pet or 2, 3 okay 4 but.....

My brother-in-law os like that. For me that would be an absolute deal breaker in a relationship.

That would be the way. Maybe get one of those noise machines like the counseling offices do so he's less likely? I bet you could sing to him. It would be great if he learned the jeapordy theme! Or star trek. Or little house on prairie! Oh yeah.

I have wondered what that story was for a while now.
Okay. The story behind the Sinipso name. A long time ago (20 years to be exact) in a commonwealth far, far way (also known as Pennsylvania) I was working at a crappy, privately owned zoo in the Poconos. This place is still open and I wait for the day the owners pass away so I can celebrate but that is another story. Anyway back to the story at hand. One of the other keepers lived in the same housing community I did. We became fast friends and often ate together. There really was not much to do around there so an evening watching television and eating a good meal was about as exciting as it got. But lucky for us there was a BBQ joint about 10 miles away called Kundulas in Hamlin, PA. Great food. So one night my friend and I called in a takeout order. I gave them my last name for the order (Simpson). When we got there they had nothing under that name. After a few minutes they found an order under the name of Sinipso. It was ours. Okay so not that impressive. But the last name of my friend is Cipriano. So it was actually a unique combination of both of our last names. So for 20 years it has been an ongoing joke between us. We even started the Sinipso Foundation (motto Sumus non hic adjuvare est or We are not here to help you).

Neatest story I've heard in a while!
