Maine

what a rotten day! on halloween my heater broken, thankfully I have a back up. the tech said, oh just needs a good cleaning, quick fix, I'll have it back tomorrow morning. well one week later I call, they will bring it back all fixed wednesday. they did but the first thing the tech said off the truck, this is a great little unit, don't get rid of it. (why would I do that, they just fixed it???) got the bill $600 and it only costs $750 brand new! I was wild and then.... last night, it goes off again with the same error code so it's not fixed after all. the tech was nice enough to give me too many details said he changed the entire insides except the computer board and that would be another $350 for the part( holy crap). he also gave me the name of the company that he trained with and called them to trouble shoot my heater. so I called them, sounds like a sensor (a $30 sensor) so all that money spent it only needed a $30 sensor??? not all the other crap they put into it.

then the main furnace starts making a bad noise last night -- and I'm having some wiring done in the house. they told me to get so many feet of wire (2 kinds) well guess what, the store shorted me 50' from what they were supposed to cut. thankfully the contractor was able to steal from this one location in the house that wasn't being used and reuse it.
what else can do wrong!!
on a good note, I sold my 2 hen turkeys and saved them from the slaughter house, I can feel good about that.

I really didn't want to kill them but next year, all the turkeys needs to be all the same!
hopefully that is all the major crap and today can only get better from here.

Gosh Hoppy - I have those events here too. We must deal with the same people

I think there's a sign on my back for tradesmen to read saying, "I'm a woman - rip me off!"

Don't blame yourself - we women work hard, are tenacious and those who don't help us....well, they can go pound SAND!!!

I love it, I got a hold of the store that sold me the too short wire, they said to bring it back, hahahaha
not likely. so at least they are going to credit me but you can sure bet, I'm not buying next wire I need there even if it might be cheaper but it might also only be 1/2 of what I need.
and tiny chicken lady, glad you found us, sorry it had to be to my rant.

hey all you mainers, the central maine bird fanciers is having their annual christmas auction. this is open to the public, you don't have to be a member to come to the auction (come join us for the meeting as well if you want). the auction will be held Nov 27th (sunday after thanksgiving) at the evening star grange hall on bill luce road in washington maine. auction will start after the 1:eek:o meeting ends (maybe 1:30?). there will be a door prize and so far I know that there are three 50# bags of layena layer crumbles for sure. if you are a club member please remember to bring your auction items or have them sent with another club member if you are not going to make it.
see you there

Does it cost anything to attend the auction....other than if you bid & win?!

no, free to all, just pay for what you win. sometime we have chickens but usually it's things you don't have to feed and not necessarily poultry related, we normally have a wide variety of items. we usually have a 50/50 drawing as well where you win 1/2 of the money from the 50/50 tickets sold.

Hi all,
Can someone point me to some quality sources ie. breeders of pigs in Maine? I have found J&J Rouillard in Farmington with their Large Blacks - would love to get some of those - but am still interested to find some other sources. Quality stock in Maine. Ideas?
Thanks,
Steve
