It was so funny, this morning, when I opened the door to let them out! Of course, all 5 pullets jumped right out, not knowing what this was all about, but my 2 older hens only stuck their beaks out. Then, went right back inside. And we have well over a foot of heavy, wet snow here in Brewer.

But thankfully, on this side of town, the power is still on (knock on wood).

A foot? Wow! It never stuck here.

Ok Tammaclean, if you are in Gray that is probably too far to get to Dayton. Don't know much about that area as far as what's there for feed and supply stores. Can you get it from anyone on Craigslist? It used to be a lot easier and cheaper. I only use straw in the winter months, I use hay until it gets cold. A little cheaper that way. Sorry not much help.

We only got a couple inches, but lots of wind, lots of branches down and lost power for a couple hours around bedtime into the overnight. We were happy to hear it come back on. I hate going to work without a shower.

Where do you go in Dayton? I am always looking for sources of supplies for the girls. I live in Shapleigh but my DH works in Saco, drives through Dayton to come home.

We've been without power for nearly 24 hours now. Fallen branches and trees are everywhere and the snow fell wet and heavy here and now has a nice crusty layer of ice. My babes and I had to spend the night at a neighbor's because our woodstove is being replaced and our toyostove needs electricity to run. Even the cook stove is electric. :barnie Neighbors had hot stew, oil lamps and board games all ready when we got there and it was fun but fun and games are over now. No school for the little ones or work for me. My Newfie is happy though.

Marcy 54- Andy's is on River Road, which is off Route 5 in Dayton. If you are coming from Dayton, up Route 5, River Road is on the left. Andy's is a little ways up on the left, after the sharp curve. Wonderful people that own it, Andy and Valerie Cole, I have known them for years. Valerie was my favorite riding instructor. Really cool store too. It is in the family's old dairy barn that they completely renovated. Check it out!!

THere is also Woodsome's Feed and Needs in East Waterboro. That is off Route 5 also. Near the Hannafords.

I go to Woodsome's , like the older lady, the younger woman not so much. I will check out Andy's.Always looking for new places.

I am fortunate to have three places I can go to for supplies. First choice is Longhorn. Second is Metcalfs in Cornish. Third is Blue Seal in Windham. I also have two Tractor Supply Company stores that I can go to if needed.

No snow here yesterday. Rain and really nasty wind gusts though. It did snow most of the day at the airport though. I went in at 430 am and did not get out until almost 530 pm. Uggghhhh. They had expected the snow to end by 11 so no plans had been made for a second shift of de-icers. Made for a very long day. On the plus side from 9 am on we only de-iced three planes. The rest of the flights were either cancelled or delayed to later in the day after the weather improved.

On another note I also worked Friday at the airport. We had no planes that needed our services but we did get to watch and Air Force cargo plane land and park on our de-icing pad for three hours while all of President Obamas support stuff and staff (including dogs) that were brought to Mane for his visit were loaded up. Got a really good view of his limo. Amazing how much is needed for a simple visit. And what we saw was probably only half of it.
