Maine

Is anyone on here reasonably near Trenton, Bath, Belfast, Biddeford, Bridgeton, Edgecomb or South Berwick and willing to do me a small favor? I'm looking for a pattern from each quilt shop in those areas. They're free, and unique to each quilt shop, but you have to present in person to the shop to get the pattern. I'm too far from these locations but would like them, especially the Trenton one... please consider it if you're near one and let me know. Thank you.

Did you read my final results?  Impressive IMO.  BTW, it was not original.  I had read a study, and decided to put it to the test.  My results were better.

I did, and I remember thinking how awesome that was. The gender issue is the biggest challenge for both large and small scale poultry operations. If we lived in a state like Arkansas, you could get college interns to do a big long term study with you. For so long we've heard that it was a myth, but it sounds like there may be something to it. Definitely worth multiple tests. I'm really glad someone is trying it, and writing about it. I can't wait to hear about this next batch.

I will be culling my flock soon. Have some pullets close to POL, may also be removing my older hens (they would be great to go with a pullet or two, as flock matriarchs.) Have some nice young cockrels with good coloring. And have some (of course, I can't count them, until they hatch) broody hatches due on Sunday. Any interest, please PM.

Had to cull one of my big girls today. Hawk got her. If I'd gone out when the crows first started their ruckus, I might have been able to save her. She had too many wounds for it to be practical to stitch her back together. If she hadn't had the perforated crop, I'd have tried to save her. She was active and feisty right up to the end. This is my first predator loss. (other than a dog many years ago.)
