Well, of course you can! If you want to...Do you have a broody hen, or are you planning to raise the chicks yourself? Usually it's uncommon for the girls to have that motherly instinct come fall, but have seen it happen. Have a neighbor who STRICTLY free ranges, his girls will disappear for a while, and then walk out of the woods with a brood. He did have one last winter in an isolated part of the barn with a dozen under her. So it does happen for sure. It just scares me to have little ones outside in winter, their chance of survival is much less. It's fun to have the babies inside for a while, but eventually they have to go out, and it's tough on them not being acclimated in winter. Anyway, if you decide to brood indoors, have a great time with it, and if you have kids, they will love it. Watch out for your kitty if you have one. Little chicks look a lot like mice to them LOL!

Newest ones are easter eggers and a barred rock easter egger cross. So cute! Fingers crossed they're all pullets!! So now we have Snowball (light Brahma), Fluffy (blue Silkie), Straw and Berry (Amberlinks), Daisy and Lily (Red Sexlinks), Buttercup and Spartacus (Buff Orps), and the four EEs. Tigerlily, Bluebell, Blackberry and Clucksy. Had to stick with the "nature" theme. lol Clucksy is K's special chicken, he got to pick her out himself. Tigerlily is my favorite of the new girls, so friendly!
