hello there ;; and good for you ,, i was just wondering what does a npip inspector do /? ,, longhorns called me today to tell me those comets i ordered are gonna be late they were due today ,but wont be in till 28th --bummer ,,but the good news is my two meat chickens --or so i thought started laying sunday ,,,,not sure which one but its givin up an egg aday ,,, i did notice the combs getting redder on the rest ---keepin fingers crossed

oh ya i meant to ask too ;;;; i've got these two little silkies ,,when should i intro them to the flock ?? the rest free range all day ,,then come home just before dark ,, whats my best plan for doing this ,,the rest are pretty freindly ,, plus i have a big goose that referees ..right now they are hangin in the barn with the goats

congrats, although I am a bit peved the state didn't let me know they were doing the training. dr hoeng had wanted me to do it as well since I'm already a vet tech. are you able to do the AI testing as well?

I am now a certified independent state poultry inspector. Waiting for a new kit but as soon as it is here I can NPIP certify. The state vet wants to change some things - like testers going out to farms to do the testing. So if you want to be be or need redone - I am official!

If you come out to farms, I'd be interested in a quote. But I'm not packing 100 chickens into a UHAUL to get them tested!

I will as that will be the new standard soon. You do not have to test all 100. If you have 30 or more then 30 will be tested (if you have never been tested prior) if you have less than 30 then all would be tested initially. Then for your annual it would be 10% of your flock.

so why is it not movable?? I moved on a boom truck a smaller aviary i had, it was the same size as my current coop, maybe bigger 8x8x6?? and tall enough for me to stand up and not be able to touch the ceiling. if you are only moving around the corner, ask your local lumber yard, they may move it for a fee. ours was $75 from one side of our yard to the other side.

I am sure it could be done, but we just cant do it. Its a shed we converted (with permision of course from the current landlord) but he doesnt want to sell it to us. So I am without a large coop. I think the smaller one will work fine for the winter, and in the spring, hubs will just have to get building!

In the meantime, if anyone in the raymond/windham/bridgton area has an old shed they arent using...

I have a chicken math question. how many silkies does it take to hatch one sizzle egg? apparently they are really hard to hatch because I have 3 hens trying to sit on this one egg. I felt sorry for them and gave them 2 more so they could each have one egg.
