Maine

The epicenter was only about 7 miles away from my house.

Did a quick check outside. Chickens and ducks are okay. The two goats are fine. The horses and their shelter are no worse for the wear.

Note to self. Do not move to California. A 4.5 quake is more than enough.

We're 14 miles from the center, it felt (and sounded like) like a truck had crashed into the house or something. Freaked the kids out bigtime, and certainly got my attention too! Don't see any damage, but will be checking again in daylight to be sure.

I felt it here in Fairfield. Our house is on posts, and I thought someone was outside pushing on the house (even though that is a bizarre thought and it would take a team of people to really shake it). I was sitting still at our kitchen table, which rattled a bit.

DH was moving around on the phone and didn't notice. I was surprised it was a 4.5.

Funny, we were at the ice arena in bridgton with 2 of our kids last night and didnt notice anything at all. I walked outside at the end of practice and my phone went nuts (the arena is a zero reception area)! I was getting all kinds of txts from friends and family that felt it. The 2 kiddos that were at home felt it, but didnt seem to care at all. The 5 year old simply told me "the house got all grumbly and it shaked" then went back to playing like it was nothing.

Unfortunately I found a chicken not doing so well this morning. She is a tiny little thing- a sizzle/cochin cross that definitely gets her size from her momma. I have noticed some of the bigger ones picking on her lately, but really did not want to intervene as I was thinking that if she's going to be part of the flock she has to find her place in the pecking order. Unfortunately now I am afraid they may have gotten the best of her. She just wants to sleep, wont eat, and definitely just isnt right. She's inside now with water and some mashed up food...so much for not intervening!

Another side note- after watching Pete the Sizzle hen run full tilt up the hill to the backdoor when I let them out this morning I have coome to the conclunsion that sizzles are HILARIOUS and I must add a few more to the flockk this spring!

I just had to post a picture of my well dressed hen- she's getting ready for halloween.
and her sizzle friend wanted to try it on as well. aren't they beautiful?!! another sizzle, annabanana???
