Maine

I grew up in New Sharon, you pass through it from Augusta to Farmington, anyway, we always used a mix of cracked corn, chicken scratch and oyster shells for our birds when I lived up there and it worked out great. We never had a problem with the girls not eating, their egg production was always high and they were always healthy. I still use that mix out here in Nevada and it works great. I tried the pellets and the mash but the girls do not like them at all. I bought a 50 lb bag 4 months ago and I still have over half of it left.

Just a quick question for folks in the lakes region area-
I need to get some garden soil. Not a whole bunch (1/2 yd or so should do it), any ideas where I should go?

no I was not the one with the potbelly pigs, I was the one with the 2 mini rex bunnies, and i had bought some bantams from him and some mallards from another person.

I got my ducklings and chickens today and yesterday! and i have one hatching right now! Idk its taking him quite a while (all day)

If you're close to Waterville there's a place on 201 at KMD, can't remember what it's called but a yard of compost mix cost me 30 dollars I think. No idea what the "lakes regions" is but right now with all the rain I think the whole state would qualify.

Kudos to the Farmer's Union in Farmington, ME

This week was a "Chick Delivery" event.

The chicks that were leftover were sold CHEAP!

I got 25 Cornish Cross meat chicks initially.

And then I went back this morning and picked up some leftovers - Hampshire Reds & Rhode island Reds.

I have tons of Bantam Cochin and d'Uccle chicks of my own hatching - but I couldn't resist!!

Thanks, Nancy, for the "Heads Up"
