Trinket

Trinket and Hannah

Looking for a home if anyone is interested. They aren't in any danger here right now but I would rather find them a safe stable home now than have to scramble to find one later if it comes to that. Great for brush clearing or just companions. Both are females (7+12 years old) but aren't suitable for breeding due to their age. Hannah was a milk goat many years ago and never really dried up but she hasn't been milked in about four years.

Whew. Busy weekend. Spent almost 20 hours at the airport this weekend. The weather was just bad enough to keep us busy. Especially Sunday morning. Nothing like a bit of freezing rain to make things interesting. Today I had two interviews. One for a part-time vet tech job that would start in January. I have my license but am a bit rusty. But being part-time who knows how many applicants they will get. And they did say that they could train me if needed. Having the schooling and the knowledge was more important. It is easy to teach someone to do the job but knowing why you are doing something helps a great deal. The second was for a very temporary driver helper job at UPS. I would run until Christmas. But it is a job and it would get my foot in the door at UPS. Orientation is Friday and I could start as early as Monday. All I have to do is pass the background check and I have a job at least for a couple weeks.

that stinks. I'm still looking for work but I can only do part time and not many want a part time vet tech.
The airport job was my part-time seasonal job not my full-time paid the bills job. I lost the full-time one.

Widget i so wish i could get my husband on board with the goats! I want to get a couple here to help clear brush from our acreage. Plus we would have the added benefit of those soft ears to pet:-) Unfortunately he is not on board with the idea right now.

But Trinket can pretend she is a dog. She has a collar and everything. No one would get past her to break into the house. They would be too busy oohing and aahing over her.

Back to being serious for a moment. I really do appreciate the attempt. For now everyone is safe. If nothing else happens I should be okay until March. After that I have no idea what to do.I really hope I get another job before then.

I received all the state paperwork today.

Several pages of stuff to fill out. A call scheduled for the middle of January to discuss something. And the lovely amount I am eligible for that is $150 less per week than what I was getting. Plus anything I get from my part-time job means I get that much less per week from the state. No wonder people abuse the system so much. It is better to not work than to take even a part-time job to help supplement the income.

Hoppy, the swag is creative and beautiful and Musstard Tiger, the salt dough ornaments are works of art! Such creative folks we have on this chat.

Widget, you have a lot of initiative. It really bugs me that they penalize folks on umemployment for making the effort to get reemployed and fill in with part time jobs (they do the same with folks on disability who struggle to do what they can to help themselves). It is like they are punishing those who are trying the hardest to do the right thing. When my husband's employer iaid off the staff, he got unemployment for a long time since he got all the part time jobs (carpentry and census, etc ) he could and at least the funds now bump to the future when they are displaced by "odd jobs" these days (unlike the old days when if you earned $10 baby sitting one week (literally) you were "employed", got nothing for that month, had to requalify and wait anothe 2 week waiting period to be elegible again the next month). They do let you earn a whopping $25 now before being penalized (wha hoo!)

Good news to report, after nearly 2 weeks of not eating and being force fed formula of eggs, a little molasses and diamond v, Rue hen the EE suddenly perked up a few days ago and started eating her pellets like a little pigglet! Her wounds have healed and she could breathe after eating without streatching her neck. She started resisting care like a normel stubborn chicken. She is now out of the "chicken hospital" rabbit cage in my bathroom and back in with her sister and friends in the coop and seems fine. They were a little mean to her at first (but no real attacks or pecking) and she has moved from 2nd to 5th out of 7 in the pecking order but all seems well.

I'd love to take credit for the swag but that was buckabucka.
