Maine

you know I really liked chick magnets rooster picture too, but the hens ok, just smaller, and I need to pull out the glasses to see it.
hmmm, turkeys, she's starting something now!!
I don't think I am going to do turkeys next yr, I think the call ducks are now calling, lol, my name. so i will have one son showing silkies and the othe wants to do call ducks (until he finds something else that interests him, he did want turkeys for awhile- that didn't last)
i will be doing my paint silkies, black x black silkies and more work with my khaki silkies and sizzles as well, oh boy, then the large fowl- but those are just for play for now.
lavender wyandottes.

Well I still like the egg swap idea and I like the chickenstock plan but I am focusing my brain cells on finishing my sewing projects by the end of next week before I think about planning anything more than bathroom breaks.

Hey Chickmagnet... where did your avatar rooster go? So handsome.

I HAVE TWO TURKEYS!!!!

Who would have thought I would be driving home with two turkeys on the seat beside me and catch myself muttering, "she is actually kinda pretty." WHAT!? Anyone who asked me before today would know that I am not enthusiastic about turkeys. My son is. Well, Merry Christmas baby! We have a pair of Midget Whites now and they really aren't that bad. I have to keep them alive and get them to breed, but given all that, they aren't too bad so far and I already have a list of people wanting some! Amazing.

Ashandvine, and others too. I am in Monmouth and would love to help each other out. Sometimes I have crittter stuff that I really need another set of hands to accomplish, and I would be happy to go help out someone else
I am not real clever when it comes to putting construction type things together but in the end I get it done. I LOVE to re purpose stuff. Come spring I will be doing a pallet garden. My geese free range during the day and go into the barn at night with the rest of the flock of assorted ducks.
It would be fun to do a get together with peeps on the list. I would be willing to look for a no cost or low cost place for us to do something like a healthy potluck and figure out how we can help each other as a community as well as share information. I go to CMBF that meets,(or I will be going again now that I am a bit more mobile on the ankle) it is a great place for good information from some serious breeders, and folks who show, but most of the folks there are WAY beyond beginner level and don't really have the same kinds of needs that others of us (me) may have.
Anyone else up for a get together and if so what are your ideas?

I have to admit you lost me on healthy potluck. I'm not a huge fan of potlucks to begin with but add the word healthy to anything and I cringe. Not that I have anything against those who do eat healthy but I for one enjoy my Pepsi, white bread and all other junk foods. I am not a size 0 nor do I want to be.

My weight has been steady for years. My blood pressure is low and I certainly get a workout with all the grain and hay I lug around. Plus I have never smoked, done drugs and don't drink alcohol. And since the world is ending in a couple weeks

I figure I may as well enjoy what I eat.

Well if the world is ending in a few weeks then I won't feel so bad about the nutty butters that I bought and immediately hid. I love healthy food, but bacon and peanutbutter bars... yeah, enough said.

I took a look at ChickMagnet's album. She really is a nice little hen/pullet. I love the heritage birds!

Hoppy, what LF are you raising? I believe I have a bird from you with some very strange markings. NOT a silkie. ack.

I think a potluck would be a super idea! Spring time is a good idea too...!

OMG- flying pigs, look out!!

widget, i bet i could make you some "healthy" food and you wouldn't know it was a healthy version. I make this chocolate cake that my kids said to make sure I wrote down the recipe, they wanted that again (it's my own recipe- I like to experiment)- it's 100 calories/serving, low sugar and high fiber and full of chocolaty goodness.
