OMG- flying pigs, look out!!

widget, i bet i could make you some "healthy" food and you wouldn't know it was a healthy version. I make this chocolate cake that my kids said to make sure I wrote down the recipe, they wanted that again (it's my own recipe- I like to experiment)- it's 100 calories/serving, low sugar and high fiber and full of chocolaty goodness.
I bet it uses pumpkin! I mess with my bread recipes all the time. SCG had one that was chocolate bread I messed with and it smelled soooo good. She said it tasted good too.
congrats on the turkeys.....and the productive bf!!

HA HA HA. He lied. He only completed one and then ran out to do more of HIS errands.
The turkeys are way more endearing than I expected. They keep trying to get out though. I can't wait to move them to a big aviary this spring. They can fly if they want to and woggle-woggle-woggle as loud as they want and poop everywhere without me hearing it. Ahhh, the joys of keeping big birds lol

I enjoy seeing everyone's projects!

Even though I do not do much in the way of Christmas, it has become tradition to make wreaths, swags, and/or center pieces with a group of teachers. I usually gather the boughs for the group. I've always made my swag using natural materials; sumac and winterberry to add a little red, weird stuff I find in the woods, including a bow-shaped mushroom.

This year, I saved wing feathers while the chickens were molting, and used those. The swag will go on the front door, although here I laid it on the tile floor because it was dark out.

Bucka,

What a wonderful idea! I'm sure we all have tons of these feathers...

Thanks for sharing,

Irene

nope, no pumpkin.
my 2 favorite secret ingredients are beans (usually chick peas or black beans) and avacado. avacado in cookies makes them soft and fluffy (but a bit green in color)

and for those are going to say ewwww, don't knock it until you try it, most people have no idea they are in there.

I keep wanting to try black bean brownies, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I hear they are delish though. Hadn't thought of avocado, I bet the green would make for some fun Christmas cookies too!

As for me? I'll be in the kitchen making completely unhealthy soft molasses cookies. ;) Though I'll make up for it later with some gluten free pumpkin muffins (which are to die for, btw!).

On that note... Anyone have a favorite easy pot pie recipe? We have a ton of leftover turkey right now, even after mixing up a crock pot full of soup. I love turkey sandwiches, but you can only eat so many in a day. lol Can't use "cream of" soups though, since the youngest is allergic to dairy.

Ashandvine, and others too. I am in Monmouth and would love to help each other out. Sometimes I have crittter stuff that I really need another set of hands to accomplish, and I would be happy to go help out someone else
I am not real clever when it comes to putting construction type things together but in the end I get it done. I LOVE to re purpose stuff. Come spring I will be doing a pallet garden. My geese free range during the day and go into the barn at night with the rest of the flock of assorted ducks.
It would be fun to do a get together with peeps on the list. I would be willing to look for a no cost or low cost place for us to do something like a healthy potluck and figure out how we can help each other as a community as well as share information. I go to CMBF that meets,(or I will be going again now that I am a bit more mobile on the ankle) it is a great place for good information from some serious breeders, and folks who show, but most of the folks there are WAY beyond beginner level and don't really have the same kinds of needs that others of us (me) may have.
Anyone else up for a get together and if so what are your ideas?

Hey that is a great idea and it would be fun to meet and do some constructive brainstorming for future projects.

Poor turkeys... inside all day in a small pen. Bad bf! Bad bf!
Been looking up information on aviaries and bird netting... ugh. That co operative is sounding better and better.

I walk away from the phone for one minute and it rings. Glad I was able to reach it before it went to answering machine. TSC calling about an assistant managers job. Interview is Tuesday at 8 am.

. Would be a 48 hour week and less pay than I was making but it would be a full-time job with benefits including discount.
