Maine

Hi Folks - some of you may know that I live in Temple, near Farmington......

Anyhow, I have some three month old Large Fowl Cochins for sale- three blue pullets, two splash pullets, one splash cockerel and a black that I'm not quite sure about yet

.

I'm going to list them on Craigs list, but I'd rather see them go to Mainers who know something about poultry.

I want $15 for the pullets and $10 for the cockerel. My flock is NPIP and tested each year.

Here's a picture of my hens.....

Oh man... I have a soft spot for feathered feet, and LOVE splash... a 4 hour (round trip) drive isn't too far for chickens, is it?! I will probably be driving to Augusta on the 16th, I don't suppose there is any chance you'd want to meet up? If we could figure a way to make it work, I'd love to take the two splash pullets off your hand.

maybe I can meet up with you that same day Grace.
and yes ejcimd, that's a project I'm working on.

Yes, if we can do the 16th, that would be best hoppy!

OMG, that is one crazy egg! OUCH!

We had turkeys maybe 25 years ago. They always got out, but they were pretty entertaining.

I like the black bean brownies, but not nearly as much as my regular cardiac arrest brownie recipe. I don't like to mess with my sweets very much. I do LOVE avocado. We made a pudding in the cuisinart, - I think it was just avocado, a splash of milk, a little powdered sugar, and almond extract. Of course, it is green, but you serve it with chopped pistachios as a pistachio nut pudding.

It would be nice if you get the TSC job, Widget. A lot of times, their employees are not terribly knowledgeable about animals, which can be frustrating.

And gracejr, I made DH drive a 7 hour round-trip for 6 chickens! He does drive those kinds of distances all the time doing census work, but still.

Update on the Tigerlily eggs... She is one silly girl!

Pictured here are her eggs from yesterday, the day before, and a normal egg from one of our sexlinks. The tiniest one is from yesterday.

Cracked open those two of hers, starting to look a little more normal perhaps? Though I'm still not about to cook one up! The one with the shell remnants is that tiny one.

How old is Tigerlily? Sometimes it takes a while for them to get things going. I do have a hen though, that lays little tiny eggs like that a lot. There is no yolk in them. Sometimes, she'll lay a normal egg, but not all that often. I think something must be messed up with her.

She's only been laying a week, or maybe two now? Not very long anyway.
