I have one barred rock hen who loves to jump into vehicles. She is always getting into the back of my Saturn when I am unloading it. Last week it was the farrier's van and the feed store's delivery truck. I'm surprised she hasn't run away with the UPS driver.

Although my black orpington rooster did investigate the inside of the farrier's van. Maybe he wanted to make sure his girl wasn't chicken napped.

Does anyone in Maine within 50+/- miles of Bangor have blue or black marans, or buff orpington chicks for sale? I had a hatch not go was well as I had hoped and want to get some additional chicks to keep those few who did hatch company. They would be layers/pets, in plush digs by chicken standards! I would like to avoid the hatching eggs route again so soon, it was sad for the kids and I and we're not quite over it. I'm sure we'll try again - maybe next spring. PM me if you think we may be able to do some chicken business? thx!

I need that bumper sticker... I don't get enough honks and strange looks as it is!

Actually, I get a lot of honks and "HEY I HAVE CHICKENS TOO!" yelled out the window. Makes me smile every time

I may have to get some of those printed...

We don't have a lot of folks around here with chickens so I usually get, "Wow, you have chickens?" Very shortly after we got ours my 4-year-old son informed me that he knows everything there is to know about barred rocks. We still laugh about that one
