Maine

funny, I just came to post the same listing, we must be on the same wave length.

A craigslist ad to share- not sure if anyone is interested, but free is usually good, right??

I am a bit of a craigslist junky- I like to browse the farm and garden section...and sometimes read the missed connections for a good laugh!

Ours is made out of 2 cattle panels. I'm not going to read the >30 page post... but it's sturdy, and holds a lot of birds. Fairly easy to make.
I made a 2 panel "green house" last fall and love it. I'm not sure how it would stand up to be tugged around the yard as a tractor. Hubby is doubtful. I have a couple of months to mull over the possibilities.

I got my first goose egg of the season this morning. Now if one of the turkeys will just get broody to sit some goose eggs....
Hoppy, want to try again with some shells if I can manage not to break them this time? They are all white, from Embdens
I also got my first of the season Ameraucana egg. I wish I had an incubator, I would like to hatch some of her eggs, she is a pretty blue wheaton, and he is a most handsome Roo.
Anyone got some good goose egg recipes?

Our hoop coop is very large (20x24) and quite heavy, but DH has a tractor that we use to move it. The thing I like most about it is that one whole side is clear corrugated. It gets a lot of solar gain and is very bright. In the summer, we turn the clear side west or east, to provide shade so it stays cool. We also insulated under the corrugated steel that is on the opposing side, so it doesn't heat up like a tin can. And the chickens love the access to greens.

We do let them out to roam around, partly because the two roosters get along best when they can get out away from each other, although they've been locked up a lot this winter.

Wait what? I dont see free Turkeys on there. Am I nuts?

Bucka, your coop is awesome! I would live in there....on cold days.

Grats hoppy on the carved eggs and the lavender baby :D

Hoppy, you're going to need to post chick photos. I've never even seen a lavender Wyandotte! Will it be a solid lavender color when it grows, or have a Colombian pattern on the neck, or lacing? Sounds pretty.

Lazy gardener, you just need some kind of skids to put under your hoop structure to pull it around. Since ours is so heavy, DH uses a crowbar to lift it, while I toss pieces of PVC pipe under the sides, then even a heavy structure is fairly easy to move.

I didn't see the free turkeys either, so if you are nuts, it is for other reasons ;) .

My sister claims she wants to live in my coop. She's said that about both of them, but she's 3000 miles away and might change her mind when she encountered the dust and chicken poop! :D

I swear it was there, i saw it too, they must have changed the add. they had to be GONE today or they were going in the stew pot.

I'll give them a try, sure. I may have to dye these. I tried turkey eggs and you could see much unless I went through the shell, which at this point I'm not trying to do.

What bucka said... mine's on skids. It's light enough to pull by manpower (note: not female power) or slip the chain or rope over the ball of a truck. If we had an ATV I'd use that.
