Maine

I am looking for a LF partridge cochin hen for a friend. doesn't need to be show quality.
pm me with info if you have it and I will pass it along.

If my hatch is tremendously successful and I get a surprising number of pullets, then I might have some Marans. These are shipped eggs though, so I'm not that optimistic.

I tried shipped eggs. Once. I bought a dozen Orpington and a dozen Marans eggs. Not one egg hatched. Not one Orpington egg even started to develop, and only like 3 Marans eggs started. I wasn't impressed at all. $50 down the drain. I am testing the fertility of my flock, so I have a few eggs in the bator. (16, I think) I have a Barred Rock/Buckeye cross and an EE roo over Barred rocks, EE's, and a few others. They'll be mutts, but they'll be cute!

I plan to hatch some of my own eggs too, assuming my Ameraucanas and Basques ever start laying again... And I'll be hatching some mutts too.

I've had mixed results on shipped eggs. The first time, 10 of 13 hatched. Great hatch, but only 2 were pullets! Second time I had 2 shipments in together: 2 of 17 hatched (both pullets, but one is kind of a mutant), and 6 of 15, only 2 of the 6 were pullets.

I think because of that first successful shipped hatch, I've convinced myself I can get that kind of result again (even though that hasn't happened yet). We'll see how this one goes in a couple of weeks!

and they still lay good eggs.
I've had better luck with shipped eggs in the colder weather then when it warms up, so this time of yr, I hatch lots of what I can't get locally. it also depends on how the box is marked. never mark it fragile, or eggs, worst thing you can do.
my live embryo marked box went missing for 3 weeks.
