Pox is viral so aside from comfort / support, there's not much to do. They could get infection on top of the viral lesions. So just clean them up. May want to get some saline irrigation at the store and use that then some triple antibiotic ointment on top. I'm not saying it's pox, but it certainly looks like it could be.
Again, if it's pox, it's viral... nothing to treat it. I'd use a warm wet cloth and "rub/wash" the eye a few times a day (like 2-3). If it doesn't get better after a day or so of this he could have a secondary infection on top of it. At that point I would buy this and use it:

Not sure if you can get that at TSC or your local farm store.

Ok thanks. I will call around and see if anyone has the ointment tomorrow. Should I bring him inside for the time being, or should he be fine staying out with the rest of the flock?

The pics I saw earlier of pox looked different to me, which is why I was doubting that possibility. They seemed more like pimples or moles than what this looks like?

We hatched out 23 out of the 24 eggs we put into the incubator!!!!! Here are some of the little ones.. I love the assorted colors.. They are Wyndotte and Orphingtons.. Looking forward to watching them feather in..

Adorable!!

We had our first predator kill today- poor Peaches the buff orp. I think it happened when I was in the shower before work- when I went out to leave, they were acting off- hiding, not scratching, but I was late leaving, so I didn't do a head count, when I get home, noticed Peaches was missing, and found her body way down back on the edge of our property- I think it had to be a hawk. She tended to wander away and do her own thing a bunch, so she would have been a prime target.
Kelly, I am so sorry to hear this! Will be thinking of you guys!

It has begun. Came home a few minutes ago and just had to check the incubator. I now have one, still damp, Icelandic chick.

Hard to tell if any other eggs weres pipping yet but I'm sure there will be more chicks waiting for me in the morning.
It's just like Christmas! Congrats on the chick!

Do you do anything for it or let them be? They're split up now, going to have DH catch/hold Pepper tomorrow so I can try cleaning him up and see how he looks then. I am worried about that eye though.

I wonder if NuStock might help. I just don't know if you can use it on his eye.

It could possibly not be. We don't have mosquitos this time of year, but we do have birds coming back north which could also transmit it, so it is a possibility. Get it cleaned up (I saw some mud on the face too, which makes it hard to gauge what the lesions look like) and get another picture.

If it is fowl pox it could be spread in your flock bird to bird, so I'd quarantine them if I were you *and* I had the room to quarantine. However, it's not usually deadly so if you can't...

and look, you have a blue laced red wyandotte in there, that brown one I suspect.
Great!!! I tried to figure out which was which, but decided I would have to wait until they feather out... I also tried feather sexing.. If I am correct It is a roo. But I am not very secure in saying that. We will see, Good luck at the Chicken Swap .. I will be working

Congrats on the hatch Widget!

Kelly, sorry about your orp :( we have had some close calls with hawks here, some lost feathers but no kills. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Ok, incubator folks... The one I picked up is the Farm Innovations one from TSC with the built in fan, etc. The thermometer built into the top is reading 10F lower than the thermometer I have inside it. The hygrometer is reading at 80% with just the center well filled. I can't find a way to remove the hygrometer to calibrate it. Should I assume it is off, and if so is there a way to fix it? Kaiden has a riding lesson this afternoon. Widget, would LongHorn have any hygrometers or anything? Going to stop there anyway to see what/if they have meds for Pepper's eye. I have eggs ready to go in, but I don't know if I dare if the humidity is really that high??

SCG - I have seen crows in the yard lately, though we haven't had any of our usual little birds return yet. Kids have been fighting all morning, but going to try and get out there to clean him up in just a bit.

Longhorn might have one. They seem to have everything else you need for chickens. I've used one I bought at Walmart for about $6. This last hatch I didn't use it since I had misplaced it. I just guessed based on what the house felt like.

Ok, no hygrometer, but they have duramycin. Is that the same as terramycin? Would be for Pepper's eye. Also have buff orp chicks... Must resist...
