Sorry, no, I'm not an alumni of UMF...

Oh, sorry, I guess I misunderstood when I was told we went to the same school. I probably should have figured it out when you only mentioned we went to the same high school.

I figured we grew up in the same area and then went to the same college too. I went to college with several others from high school, I guess I must have just assumed. Who I went to high school with, or that I went to high school actually, just escapes me now, it seems like another persons life, I guess I must be getting old.....

You make nice coops! I stopped at my mothers and saw hers and it is awesome. The best i've seen anywhere in fact. Lots of attention to detail, like that the replacement screens for warm weather are stored right there on the side of the coop, and the nice latches, finished edges, including a metal roof and a nice paint job! Really nice

I am jealous!
What kinds of chickens do you have? What are you getting for goats? I got my new Nubian/oberhasli buck and my new Marans roo this weekend.

I'm in Union! My DH just brought home a chick from the bio class at CHRHS. Poor little thing was the only one in need of a home this year. We've had chickens in the past. I was originally reluctant to own chickens, but once we got them I was hooked. Took a break from chickens when I had my daughter, but want to get back into it. I have my coop ordered from roots coops and more. I'm super excited to get a nice coop! Anyone know of any chicken swaps or anything going on along the around Rockland or Augusta? I'm hopping to get some companions for our chick.

Hoppy (see prior posts) said she'll have eggs hatching later this month. I've got a few chicks from her this year and they have sweet personalities already! And she's not far away from our area [I'm in Nobleboro].

Violetblueivy,
I have two hens: barred rock and blue laced red wyandotte and a rooster I believe is a Black Copper Marans (some think Wheaten). I also have 4 pullets and 1 cockerel that are all Rhode Island Reds. My rooster is a cool dude. My does (Nubians) are coming next week/weekend. One is in milk... she had triplets. The other is dry. I'm really excited/anxious/nervous. We are busy preparing and rebuilding a small pole barn/shed for them.

Cellochick,
Your coop is in progress! I hope your chick finds some friends. There is a chicken swap at Tractor Supply this Saturday. You might have some luck there. I was planning to be there for a couple of hours, but it might not happen. I have a prior commitment...
