Maine

yup, I was there stewarding this morning until the judges break. very interesting, also a bit tiring, home taking a break.
and i should add that a beautiful white call duck won show champion.

No Hovabator here, but I do have a Brinsea Eco 20 which has been pretty good to me.

Pretty sure I had a Hoppy spotting at the Windsor Fair in the Poultry Barn.

Busy week for me. Family was in town so I spent lots of time with all my remaining siblings. Always fun to reminisce about our family. Of course I found all the old family pictures after we got together. But I did get a chance to go over some of the genealogy research I have accomplished.

I did manage to put up some sour mustard pickles. Easy recipe and boy are they good.

Also finished installing the laminate flooring in the bedroom. Only took me five years. I finally decided that enough was enough and I was going to get it done no matter what. It isnt perfect but it is much better than what was in there. And since I was on a roll I went to Lowes today and got some paint to repaint the bedroom. It was a minty green and white color. Not bad but I wanted something darker so I went with a blue called Stargazer by Valspar. I am half done the first coat. Had to lock the dogs out of the bedroom or I would have had a tinted Great Pyrenees.

I was at the Windsor Poultry barn today as well. Snuck right past yas!

In more chicken-related topics: anyone have Red Stars? They seem like a potential option...

I have a red star and she's fabulous. Lays for 10 days and then skips a day consistently. She is easily handled and although she's near the top of the pecking order, she's not a bully by any means.

I got an other huge blue egg from one of my EE. She's not a consistent layer... if anyone takes a day off, it's likely to be her, but what she misses in consistency, she makes up in quality. This egg was so huge that I couldn't close the lid on my large egg carton.

We had a raccoon visit us at 4 AM Saturday morning. He met up with the electric fence, didn't like what he found, and after very loudly voicing his opinion, left for friendlier territory. At the risk of offending some on this site, I'm going to ask my question... Anyone in Maine have experience caponizing?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. For us, only one week left before the kids are back to school. The summer has been too short. A few kids in the area are actually starting school this Wed.

I was just googling vaporizing today. I found a lot of clinical stuff, but nothing about people's personal experience. I'm eager to hear what people say.

I personally thrilled with school starting. I even broke into "it's the most wonderful time of the year". I love my babies, but three of them all day while my hubby is working is too much sometimes.
