Maine

I love that swag! Im going to start collecting feathers now!

Ash - yes if the dough stays out for long it is toast :( I personally like the dough smooth but you can always add more salt or use a more coarse salt. I cant stand when the dough gets sticky. It can happen from overworking it. Sometimes mine gets like that toward the end of a batch at which point I toss it and start over. I cook my stuff on super low heat for a long time. It helps with the curling. Sometimes thin pieces will curl and warp in the oven no matter what you do.

Thanks for the compliments on this stuff :)

I'm going to give it a try using the bailey irish cream creamer- no alcohol.
Hoppy- I used this recipe- http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/white-truffles-recipe/index.html but I did not use nuts- just rolled some in decorators sugar, and coated some in melted milk/dark chocolate. They were super yummy- now I know it's safe to make them as gifts....

I started making paper origami boxes..then my aunt told me about making them from old christmas cards, so I went with that too...I like both- the paper boxes are faster, but the card boxes are more substantial...I'll snap some pics maybe....tomorrow...

I should have done homework all weekend, but I needed a break. 2 weeks to go...

I did a silly thing this morning.....

Went for a run with the dog, and when I got back to the truck, I realized that I had an egg in my coat pocket the whole time.....
thank goodness it didn't break!

Wow! All the beautiful and delicious things I am seeing on here are putting me in the christmas spirit!
We did salt dough as kids, and I have done it with my kids, we have been happy with our results, but mine dont look like yours! Mostly we just make them to look like christmas cookies.
The christmas cards remind me of making stamps with potatoes when I was little. I am reminded of so many fun things we can do, and we have the time to do it now, thank you all for sharing :)

Okay, late last night I was going over the 12 Days song in my head... Three French Hens are FAVORELLES!!!

I don't know why I got such a huge kick out of it but I did.

I use Ivermectin now for mites lice and worms. No more wasting my time in the fall-- spring is Safeguard.

We saved feathers for decorations, present tags and hair pieces for my daughters. Some day I might paint on one just to say I did. They are so beautiful at the pow-wows.

I like Martha Stewart's recipe for truffles-- easy and delish! I also cheat though-- I add all kinds of things. I roll them in cracked peppermints or Ghirardelli powder some plain or with cinnamon. I have even added orange oil and whiskey to a few. Mmmmmm.

I kicked the birds out this morning, all but a few cockerels. Get out and enjoy the weather you goofs!

Oh my word - rolled in crushed peppermint sounds AMAZING! I am so going to be making truffles!

Hoppy, let me know how the creamer works! I don't drink and Nate doesn't drink Baileys, but loves his coffee, so creamer would make a great sub here.

I'm telling you I was nearly freaking out in bed when I realized they were favies! I know, this is nuts, but I have three (one is a cockerel though) so it was just electrifying me with realization! Be sure to post whatever you make.

Peppermints go over pretty well and they are pretty. If you make orange sugar you could use that or raspberry or whatever. I suppose you could use Nesquick strawberry even if you wanted to get simple.

Whew. Busy weekend. Spent almost 20 hours at the airport this weekend. The weather was just bad enough to keep us busy. Especially Sunday morning. Nothing like a bit of freezing rain to make things interesting. Today I had two interviews. One for a part-time vet tech job that would start in January. I have my license but am a bit rusty. But being part-time who knows how many applicants they will get. And they did say that they could train me if needed. Having the schooling and the knowledge was more important. It is easy to teach someone to do the job but knowing why you are doing something helps a great deal. The second was for a very temporary driver helper job at UPS. I would run until Christmas. But it is a job and it would get my foot in the door at UPS. Orientation is Friday and I could start as early as Monday. All I have to do is pass the background check and I have a job at least for a couple weeks.

Wow, widget, that was quick! So glad your finding some work, even if part-time.

Mainechick, I've done a lot of crazy things with a forgotten egg in my pocket. I've yet to break one that way.

I will need to check out Martha's truffle recipe. My recipe has ginger snap crumbs in it, which tastes okay, but ruins the smooth texture. I like mine with Grand Marnier (or cheap imitation GM) or rum. Peppermint sounds great!

I am sick with a fever today. Turning in before 6 p.m., in hopes I can work tomorrow.
