Maine

Well in her defense, I did not tell the postal clerk what the package was. But they will have no way of knowing what's in there, so I'm not sure they will call.

Two years ago, they DID call and I picked it up in Fairfield. So today I went to the Fairfield post office to inquire, and they said, no, it will be in Waterville. It was the Waterville woman who said they do not call people. Tomorrow DH will be home, so if they neither call nor deliver it, I'll check the post office again before heading home from work.

SCG, I was looking at photos of your chicks and they appear to be on an incontinence pad. I imagine you have access to them at work, but do you think I can you get those in the grocery store (near diapers or something?) Or do I need to go to a drugstore? Luckily, I haven't been in the market for them. I can always do layers of paper towels, but that looks like a good set up!

Well, I fired up the bator too, but there aren't any eggs here yet. The tracking says:
Processed through sort facility 1:44 a.m. Scarborough
Depart sort facility. (no time listed). Scarborough
Processed through sort facility 4:48 p.m. Scarborough
My eggs seem to be spending quite a bit of time in Scarborough. I got my hopes up when I saw that it had departed the sort facility, but they must have just moved it into the ne xt room. It should be here tomorrow, I would think.
Buckabucka, I hope you have better luck than I did with the "processed through sort facility in Scarborough." My Dad sent me a package from Florida and I didn't receive it for atleast a week after I'd read that on the tracking. Don't know what "route" it actually took before I got it. Thankfully, it was just a T-shirt. Good luck!

Buckabucka,
You can get incontinance pads at medical supply centers (also they have them at pet supply stores (puppy piddle pads).

Thanks.
I'm guessing puppy pads would be the cheaper option, although I should probably just stick with the paper towel layers, since I already have plenty here. The pads look neat and easy though.

So, I just looked at the tracking history again, and they changed the processing time through Scarborough sort facility from 4:48 p.m. to 7:41 p.m. How many times can they process this thing?

So sorry to hear they're not in yet. Mine went to Scarborough then to Hamden (somewhere by Bangor) and in the process drove RIGHT BY MY HOUSE. Then back from Hamden to Vassalboro for delivery.

My two hatches are done. Lots and lots of awesomely cute chicks.

Congrats on the chicks, SCG ! Did I miss the pictures?

Odd. My post office will call if there is a package that says please call on it. No wonder the post office is bankrupt. They need more lessons in customer service and less cutting back on services if they want to survive.

Widget, you hit the nail on the head! Our postman at the office told me that the saying at his P.O. is that the USPS should drop the last S because they no longer offer the Service they once did by NO fault of the carriers...it's upper management.

Yeah that happened to us. Eggs at the post office , they called and we went to get them. " Do you have a package for us?" ,we said. The reply was"NO WE DON'T CALL PEOPLE!" ( with a little attitude).........Well .... you called us, hatching eggs?????. " OH YEAH....... over here on the table,Well we do call for eggs.

So don't worry they will call you in the morning and let you know. They are very busy in the morning so I believe they can be a little inpatient.

Bucka, the post office DOES work in mysterious ways. Too bad common sense & logic are always factored into those ways. I also think it depends each P.O. what they'll do & won't especially if they have local people working in them. I worked for the P.O. for a brief period. One week we had to do it this way; the next week a different way.

I would like to say that the rural route carriers I worked with work very hard.

if it's in scarbough, it probably goes to hampden next and if it's in scarbough by 11:00pm, it can make the hampden truck which means tomorrow you should have it (this is from my post masters info). also waterville used to call, they would call me for animal carriers or chicks- just needs to be written big, but now there is a thing online with the usps, that you can get mobile updates of your package either by phone or email, you just have to sign up when it's shipped.

Thanks.
