Maine

When is the swap in Bangor? PM me. I have a ton of perennials. What are you interested in???
I would like some Solomon's Seal-- True, not False. And variegated Ajuga.
Does anyone in the Augusta/Waterville area have a forsythia bush they'd be willing to let me make some cuttings from?

OMG yes come get it, lots of it! I can show you how to do layerings. Easy.

About the weird "ornament" egg. If this isn't clearly a parasite then I wouldn't freak. Watch your bird close to be sure it lays again. If this is a new layer or hasn't laid in a while it can be a system malfunction or needing 'warm up.' It might be a piece of the intestine/canal or just weird. We had a few rubber eggs for a while last year and one had a long umbilical type thing. The hen was fine and lays fine now.

Finished classes for the semester- played in the flower garden- veggies coming up...new chickens adjusting well...it was a good day!

I have to say, after seeing babies at Ashs house...and the *few* eggs in the incubator...it makes me want to hatch some!

I was afraid to do it, but I finally counted and I'm up to 76 chickens! So much for the 50 chicken limit. The 3+ year old hatchery hens will go to the freezer this fall, along with the excess roosters, so hopefully that will bring it down to a reasonable number.

you are never supposed to count chickens....

Yeah, I had planned on staying under 25... I have 30 in the coop, 12 in the brooder, and 31 eggs in the incubator. In my defense I am planning on selling some of the pullets, and extra roos are going in the freezer once they're old enough. But, yeah... Chickens are too darned addicting!

I have to admit I only see them in people's yards.

However, I was really nice today and took 2 dozen eggs to my neighbors house to scope out his bushes. I do believe he goes back to work on Saturday... his bushes will be unguarded. I may go over there to drop off some more eggs and become accidentally tangled in his bushes, requiring that I cut myself out of them...

I like the way you think, SCG!!

Moved the Tetra Tints to the outdoor brooder today. They are certainly old enough and should do fine with the low temperatures due next week. The other little ones will stay in another week and then move outside. By then the turkey poults (2 Bourbon Red and 6 Royal Palm) I got today will be big enough to go in the larger of the two brooders I have. Good thing too since I should be getting five call ducklings next weekend.
