Could you explain this condition please? I have purchased 2 Cochin's from another BYC member from Naples Me. "humphreysfarm". On June 13/13/13 I purchased her 2 Cochins that I thought were so pretty all dressed up for a Steampunker's Ball. Anyway, she told me they were born 5/18/12 and one just started laying on 7/27 one of them started laying but the other still hasn't done a thing. She's not caked up and she's getting around, she gets time free ranging when I'm w/ them and in a tractor. She can fly a short distance (lol) and she just loves to eat the BOSS from my hand! lol I'm still trying to see if there's anything wrong w/ her. And no she's not hiding them on me.I would like to chime in that the golden comets/red sex links are good birds, and pretty hardy and friendly. However, I've had 3 of them (albeit not a large number) but two have already died of internal laying problems and the third is generally unwell, I think she's also laying internally and will more than likely succumb to that soon, or have to be put down. I have had a large percentage of the "production" birds get sick from that (almost all of my original leghorns are dead). For some reason my black sex links are not quite as sickly, but they are not well, either. The problems didn't start until about 2.5 yers into their laying cycle, though.
I just love these old dolls, there like girls from the 1890's their just missing their frilly parasols!
