Because the ducks know it's supposed to be warmer outside by now! They are giving a big middle finger to the weather, in hopes of it warming up soon.

I hear ya NorthChicken!! Yesterday one of my friends said to me, "This is the longest January we've ever had! Today is January 76st!" She cracks me up!!Is this winter EVER going to end? Just saw extended forecast, and while they are calling for the next few days to be in the 30s, next week and maybe even into the start of April they are calling for very cold temps. I am so tired of waking up to -15F below zero. I have lived in Maine my entire life, and this is the first winter I have really considered moving somewhere warmer.
Girls and I are all sick of this winter!! I even feel bad for the crows that migrated up, I don't think they expected it to be this cold, either! I have been saving bread for them, dogfood, etc. and feeding them as well. Hopefully they will repay me by chasing off the numerous hawks and bald eagles we have!!
I don't feed the crows in our neighborhood however I do appreciate them giving out the warning calls for my girls. They listen to them quite well and head for the pen even when I don't see anything in the sky.
Our crows showed up about 10 years ago. Only 2 at first. I thought they were cute and they were quite big so I named them Heckyl & Jeckyl. They used to walk up and down our lawn. Now I know they were measuring the place for curtains & carpet!! Then they brought their friends and they brought their friends..... They all know that Tuesday is Trash Day on our street so we have to cover any bags not in a can with a blanket so the little buggers don't rip them apart. I really don't mind them in the neighborhood so long as our trash is covered. They are very smart birds!!
