Maine

NCR although it is a bit farm related. I need some new jeans but I can not find any decent ones. The ones I have seen are paper thin, have small pockets and are way too frilly. I need some that are made for people who actually work in them. Working with dirty, dusty, oily and heavy car parts call for quality made jeans. And working around the homestead too. I have some from LL Bean right now that are starting to wear out after several years. I might end up getting some from there again but thought I would check to see what others wear. The ones from Duluth Trading Company look good but I have never ordered from there. TSC had great ones for men but crap ones for women.

Widget, I buy all my jeans on Ebay. I can't find the ones I like around here and they would be $40+, anyway. On Ebay, I've even gotten some for as little as $10. I've done this for years and have only had one problem with the wrong size, but the seller took them back and reimbursed me, promptly. Good luck!

Hello from Woolwich, ME. New to chickens this year. Have a varied flock..TSC 3 red sex linked, 2 white leghorns and from various sources locally, 1 EE rooster(oops), 3 hopefully EE hens. And from Mc Murray Mail order...2 EE pullets and 1 cuckoo maran pullet. Hoping for a colorful egg basket!

Honestly; come to goodwill. I work at Goodwill and we get many many llbean and carhartt jeans. Lots of other quality brands in all sizes too! Cant really beat 4.99 - 7.99 for a good pair of jeans.

Also NCR: I am struggling with the puppy. She has to wear a cone and we have to put a waterproof "sock" over her splint every time we go outside. She does not like this at all and I am sure her leg and foot are sore. She snarls and bites at me every time I try and put the cone or sock on. I know something about dog behavior and especially how it can change when a dog is injured but goodness. I feel personally insulted and afraid that she is reacting this way and it is hard to remain calm and composed. I am trying to use treats to make the whole experience more positive but it is hard :(

Welcome JohnNJerri! I like a colorful egg basket too.

Wish I could have made it to the show in Windsor. My company did not leave until 7 p.m. Isn't there a show in the fall, too, or is that different?

I'm going to put all my tomatoes in today. One good thing about a hoop house, you can work in the rain.

For the sock can you use a bread bag? That might make it easier to put on. And is the cone the traditional plastic cone of shame? They now make a soft one that is a bit for comfortable. Or at least it looks more comfortable.

I second the goodwill idea for jeans. Last week I bought two pairs at a thrift store! Only paid $8! I just wanted something for working on a farm. ( my summer job)

Yes there is a show in the fall and it tends to be a bit better in some ways as the birds aren't fresh out of breeding pens and a winter that was awful.
Windsor was a good show and had lots of birds. A few people from BYC popped in to say hello and I have to give an official apology to all as I was clerking with judges for a lot of the day so I couldn't be social. I was sorry not to have but I learned a lot, as always, with the judges. Thank you to those of you who came. It was so nice.

Hello, folks. I haven't dropped in for a while now, oops. My job and class have been keeping me busy. I barely have time to breathe!

Anyone interested in a free rooster? Benedict is getting to be too aggressive for my little flock. He might benefit from more girls or more space. He's a leghorn cross. I was going to try and turn him into meat, but my parents put their foot down; they considered him a pet, lol!

In other news, my chicks are growing up beautifully. They're getting so big! I've got 5 white leghorns and 2 Polish cresteds. The leghorns *should* be girls, but I have no idea about the Polish. Either way, they're wicked cute.

I wish I could have gone to the show in Windsor yesterday, but I was working all day. I hate these shifts... How's everyone else been?
