I think the plans for the coop this weekend is blocking off my front eves for the winter and leaving the back ones above the roost open since no wind comes in them by the tree line. That still be enough ventilation. And bank to coop to make no drafts from the winds under the coop. Also figure out what to do to my run for the winter since I didn't get my new run plans built this fall.

Cleaned the coop this morning. Got 2.5 bags of shavings and 4 bags of leaves laid in there. So nice to go into the winter with the coop cleaned out! Starting the final run of trenching this afternoon.

Girls got the turkey carcass from yesterday. My host tossed it in the trash b/fore I could speak up, so... I had him haul it out, and I brought it home for the girls. Can't believe how much meat he threw away on that bird. Probably enough to serve 4 more people, including lots of white meat. I'd have picked it clean if it was my bird, then boiled it down for stock, then given the rest to the birds! Ah well... The flock are eating well today. They have more turkey than they can eat, fresh leaves and old litter in the run, new shavings and leaves in the coop.
