Maine

I don't mind the snow and even cold is bearable, but I hate the ice. And wow has it been icy! Our driveway and walk is simply treacherous, despite the sand and salt. I agree LG - hope the roads don't freeze with this rain!

i hate ice too! we haven't had warm enough temps to get any and thats fine with me! my friggin' backs getting a workout this year tho!

As for weather my girls are doing better than I am, however I will be redoing their run so not as much snow gets in, used my small tiller to brake some of it out and shoveled it out was about 8 inches of snow and ice buildup

Well, I feel silly... I thought one of my 3.5 month old roosters was attacking my hens. Nope, that's called mating. So brutal!! The worst part is that his favorite appears to be the sweet broody who raised him!

I had to take down the roof of the girl's sunroom. Between the snow and ice, and my poor design, the roof was looking like a giant hammock. So, at 10 PM last night, I was out in the freezing rain taking the roof down. Laid it down under a couple bales of hay, hoping that it doesn't freeze into the ground. Now won't that be a horrid mess???? Hubby has build a couple of trusses, but we won't be able to install them till Saturday, that's if the weather chooses to cooperate on Sat.

anyone want to take in a single 2 day old chick? Storm knocked our power out for 12 hours during lockdown so all but one tenacious didn't make it... would be cruel to brood him solo

It's a mix from a breeding project.

I have twenty 3-week old chicks, probably not the best for your friend (they're no longer on supplemental heat). We lost power for 40 hours over the weekend.

Oh, how awful! If I had a broody, I'd totally stick it under her for you. She has just started laying again after hatching her chicks in September, though. Good luck with the little survivor!
