Maine

Does anyone have any ideas where I could get a chicken tractor in Maine? I know about roots coops and more as I ordered my larger coop from them..but I can not find any place that sells the chicken tractors....I have 2 silkies that need a smaller place to live and I like the idea of the tractors...anyone have any ideas? Thanks! I checked out craiglist as well as uncle henerys..but they are all larger coops...I just need to small place!

They aren't hard to construct . My OH uses frames we get from people that their hoop buildings have blown down . He picks them up out of fields and then makes chicken tractors from them . We just make them the size we want then cover with chiken wire . I have one I move all over to let my silkies take turns on green grass . I wouldn't recomend letting them live in one through the winter though . They are hardier then people think . I have a friend who has a trio that lives in a rabbit hutch with a long off the ground pen and they do fine . But they do have a nice tight wind break where a tractor wouldn't have one . ~~~~~ Tammy

i just had a trailor addition given to me and its about the size of my coop i just built was thinking i could add it to the other end of my chicken run the run is 10 x16 feet maybe use it for a brooder house or to have more chickens this one is fully insulated and all wired up for power havent decided what to do with it yet but i will have to add some kind of air vents in it looking like i will have plenty of room for lots of chickens now lol the addition is 8x10 so im thinking i could keep a batch of meat birds in it and just put up a smaller run off the back of it with some of the 2x4 welded wire fence need some ideas ive got lots of room out back so let me know what you think

One of the hens hurt her leg today. She was practicing flying

and landed hard and now she is limping. Poor thing is sleeping on the coop floor, she can't get on the roosting bars.

I don't think the leg is broke. Is there anything I should do to help her out?
