I have to agree! I only buy my chicken feed and most supplies from there...there is a lady who works there with the nickname "chickenlady" lol! The customer service is outstanding and they know a lot about what they carry! The lady mentioned that she would like to have chickens right there on location next spring...I was very impressed with them from every aspect!!

I wonder if they would be open to a swap at their location in the spring? If I remember right, they have a good parking lot.

Their parking lot is nice and right now they have someone selling fruits and veggies on the side of it. They also have a loyalty club to get back money once you spend so much... so if you use Purina feed products, that might be the way to go.

And I have no idea if the laws recently changed, last I knew LePage was still in charge of Waterville and saying no to chickens.

Funny how that seems recent to me.

Also Knights Farm Supply in Augusta might be worth checking out for some of you in the Augusta/Waterville area - they're also nice and knowledgeable. They also recently started a frequent feed buyer program - I think it's a few bucks off a bag if you buy 10. Not great, but a bit of help.

well im going to try to talk to someone in the bangor tsc to see about maybe haveing a spring swap meet i just cant belive how much some of the farm animals have gone up around here this past year a friend of mine picked up 2 piglets this summer and said for what he had to pay for them was what he paid 2 years ago and got 6 of them and as far as chicken goes they are hard to find up here to but i dont think that i should need to buy many more chickens im planning to hatch out a bunch next sprng to build up enuff chickens but i would like to pick up a few animals to raise here besides the dogs and grandson lol and the chickens

I believe that there is change coming soon to that law...if what I heard from family living in WTVL and working in the city hall...there was alot of people who wanted that law changed and Mr Lepage did not...felt Waterville was not a place to have livestock...huh...

when I lived there..a few years back they were not allowed..

I heard about a meeting where he was asking incredibly intelligent questions like "what do you do with them in the winter, won't they freeze to death?"

Yeah, just like the chickadees outside freeze each winter and thaw out in the spring.

Yup...that sounds about right..because chickens smell..attract flies and are too loud.....and if someone has one...they will have more and it will cause an increase in garbage so it will cost the city more to pick up the extra garbage and will increase what the city would have to pay to get rid of the extra garbage....so on and so forth..it was a riot to listen to...and god forbid you try to correct him....was very glad to see him leave the waterville office...
