Free roosters in Gardiner area! DH brought the roosters to Gardiner Beef today to be butchered. One cage had 4 roosters in it, and when the guy reached in and grabbed the first one, the others suddenly exploded. 3 roosters took off. One was captured in the parking lot, 2 others escaped into the woods!

So, if you see a couple of nice-looking roosters on the loose in that area, they are yours for the catching. I feel bad for them, but I suppose they were headed for the end of their lives anyway.

HAHAHAHA how funny. We're supposed to do 7 roosters later on today if the weather holds. I might actually shoot for tomorrow though that way I can catch them off the roost early in the morning and put them in a holding cell. I can't imagine chasing them over the huge run we have!

Maybe they'll coexist peacefully with my 3 escaped geese here in Vassalboro. I keep hoping they're having awesome adventures.

I was looking for chicken breeders and remembered you had asked about Dorsets. Well this is what I found:

These farms have them, but I don't know about breeding/selling. Never hurts to ask!

. Unfortunately Blue Ribbon Farm got out of the sheep business last year. Too bad since they seem to have been the only ones around with Dorsets.

question- HOW did they get out the sheep business, did they eat them or sell them on the hoof so to speak? if they were not killed, you might place a craigslist or UH ad looking for some

No idea. I found their site and mentioned it to my friend. He followed up and told me they were no longer dealing in sheep. Good news is that he did get some leads so hopefully will find what he is looking for soon.
