Maine

Well, now I know why it was so quiet. I was not getting any notices.
I just got my first two Ameracuana eggs from a hen I bought at a swap. So far, so good, my hens are laying with no heat in the barn. I am getting a dozen a day between the ducks and hens.
I am going broke feeding the gray squirrels so have started catching them in Hav a Heart traps and hauling them away. Three down and at least three more to go.
Boo for the weather forecast!
Stay warm.

I expect it will take a whle to work out the bugs in this new BYC format

Meanwhile, the snow is COMING!

Ryan & I will be busy today feeding/watering all our birds. Might be a good day to do a "bird count" too.

I've been busy moving birds around. My bantam cochins are separated into blues, blacks and barred. d'Uccles are separated into porcelain and mille fleur. The buff cochins and red cochins will have their own pen soon.

New additions are the bantam cochin chicks I hatched in November, including mille fleur, calico and black mottled!

Show birds are in roomy cages, gaining weight and feathers to prepare for Spring shows!

Hope I'm not boring everyone with this lengthy post, but we want folks to know we're still here and ROCKING ON!!!

Wow...long thread!!! Hi, I'm from Monmouth and I will be looking to get some Indian Runner Ducks in the spring. I've found CranberryCreekFarm through this site but does anyone one have any other ideas on where I could find Runner ducks in maine. Thanks,

Ethan

Check Craigslist. A pair of males in Belfast, also some in Lubec. I bought chickens from the people in Lubec. They are (or were at the time) in crowded conditions which appears to have resulted in feather picking, but the birds were very cheap and now, 6 weeks later, are looking great.

Glad to see everyone is finding their way around the new BYC . Joannie sounds like you've been busy

My silkies are doing great here -- I brought my colors down to Blk and partridge Decided not to breed whites or buffs sold and gave them away to people just starting . Probably kick my butt in the shows

but hey it was a choice I made . I've been very busy crafting and getting ready for spring . What has everyone else been up too ? It really hasn't felt much like winter till the last week and now today finally some real snow . I hope everyone stays warm and safe through this storm . I'm heading out to check my waters again and then think I'm going to decorate a few eggs . ~~~~~ Tammy
