oh well -- looking for runner duck eggs to hatch -- for a friend .

decided I need to keep the lavender roo due to weather temps and having fewer birds in the coop- he'll stay until the spring swaps start up.

for those having trouble of the thread going to the first post, you need to mark the thread as read, (don't ask me how) but then it will take you to the most recent post.

Are these my eggs?

Good luck with your hatch!!
Yes they are. My 2 broodies have done a wonderful job so far! Of the 10 eggs that I got from you, I have 7 still under them. The white egg was supposed to hatch today, so hopefully tomorrow. This is my very first hatch and I can't wait to see the little fluffy butts! The other 6 eggs are due to hatch on the 20th.

I hade 14 lavender orps hatch 2 days ago and several wyandottes/ orps in black and probably blue laced. can't wait until they feather out so I can see what I really have for colors.

Started looking at different chicken breeds today. I'm looking for Top Hats, Olive Eggers
and Blue/ Red Laced Wyandottes and Silver Spangled Hamburgs. If anyone has fertile
eggs for sale or will be hatching any of these breeds for late spring I'd love to buy some.
Anyone have any trouble keeping bantams with regular chickens?

Update on the Ameracauna that was acting sickly. I believe she was egg bound, we
gave her a warm bath and kept her inside the house all night. the next morning she was fine.
I didn't see any egg but I think I saw a little sack left, but it was hard to tell, I think she may
have had a broken egg in her and when it came out she ate it? Just guessing but she's ok now.
Still haven't gotten any more eggs from her yet.

I have a bantam in with my flock, she holds her own. I've heard of bantam hens getting crushed by large roosters but she doesn't seem to have a problem with that, yet.

I have 2 polish chicks that are 2 weeks old right now for sale, mixed colors. No idea the gender.

the only problem, i had with my bantam in a standard flock was that she had a hard time getting enough food and water, as well as keeping warm while roosting, but good luck!!!

I have larger bantams in my flock and they do just fine. I have one that came to me bent. yes bent. she looks to have her tail off to the side and does this odd thing with the leg on that side, otherwise fine- probably was an egg hatching issue but could have been a too large rooster I suppose, just not mine. mine don't mate with her.clearly they don't want "bent" offspring,

.
I will be raising some blue laced red wyandottes this yr from chicks I buy. I'm willing to split an order if you'd like, these will be better quality birds not hatchery. I also will have other colors of wyandottes too and come spring, some of those bantams will be going. I also have smooth sizzles (they look like a mini polish. I'll see if I can post a picture (learning process)
