They are over $4 in our health food store here. They are selling.
I was told that $2.00 is too much

and you can get a dozen eggs for like $1.50. I don't think asking $3.50 is too much.

the "fox" that was killing my chickens was seen today and it's not a fox. it's my own dog

Well, you can buy eggs really cheap on sale. You just need to find customers that want quality over quantity.
My regular customers really pay $2.85, because I charge either $3, or $20 for 7 dozen, and a keep a running tab for them.
One guy buys them because his kids like all the colors, and one of the kindergarten teachers at my school turn them into a whole lesson. They shared ideas about why they laid different colors (some thought it was their feather color, and my favorite, "clearly the green eggs were laid by the rooster" :D ) and then they wrote about them.

Is anyone interested in 3 young OEG banties, about 8 weeks ? I also have a lonely mutt chick that is about 10 weeks. (father is a Marans/EE cross, and mom is a Golden Comet) I don't know if they are male or female. I also have 2-3 RIR pullets about 12-13 weeks old. I am still debating on getting rid of my 5 month old splash OEG banty pair. If you're interested in any of the chickies, please let me know.

Hoppy, I am soooo sorry to hear about your dog getting your chickens. Your chickies are always so lovely. Since about 1/2 of my flock is from you anyways, let me know if you need any of them for breeding.

Need advice. I have a quartet of WC Black Polish going on 9 months old now. I need to introduce 2 more pullets aged 6 months. I did what I always do and added them at night. This has always worked well and was advice given to me by many old timers I speak with.
Everything was fine the next morning and all day. Then evening started and the Roo went crazy trying to peck them to death. He was focusd on one and we removed her and by the time we got her settled he was onto the second one. He did a number on the first but she is fine and we took the other one out right away. I need to incorporate them though. Need a new method.

We always do a free ranging method. They have two separate quarters at night, but they all go out together during the day, and do fine. At night they retreat to their homes. Eventually, they all end up in the same coop. Just takes some time and patience. Seems they do much better while ranging, they're too distracted by the great outdoors to bother each other too much. Sorry for everyone who are losing their pets, it's so hard, they are your children after all. And also sorry for your doggy who seems to like chicken meals a whole lot. Retraining will be difficult, but you can do it. Wouldn't happen to be part Rot would he? We have a person up the road with 2 part Rots and they were caught taking down a young fawn. They did get fined for it, but they have retrained them to stay on property. We worried about them as well with our birds, and used to catch them in our driveway, but one quick friendly phone call took care of it.

Have half a dozen or so beautiful Pekins (not Jumbos) for sale. They started to lay 2 weeks ago. They must go in pairs, will sacrifice at $20 per pair to a good home. Out of 12 (I think) girls, we got 8 eggs yesterday. They are 20 weeks, fat, happy and healthy, and very well mannered. Only one condition, you must treat them with peas a couple of times a week. PM me if interested. We are in midMaine between Bangor and Belfast.
