I have a big announcement: The first of our younger birds had started laying!!!! 19 week old Buff Orp. WoooooHoooooo! (finally!)

Does anyone have any Ameraucanas, EE's, or mutts that lay anything other than a brown egg ? I need to add some more color to my egg basket, it's just too brown. I only have 1 white egg layer, and 2 blueish egg layers. I have a couple of Barred Rocks and some OEG banties, if you wanted to trade.

I thought I saw some listed in the farm and garden section on Maine Craigslist- goodluck!

Thanks all. They did indeed come from empire acres ( though i am never buying there again!) The one who is laying has a really red face while the other orp who is the same age is still pink.

BTW there is someone in Gray selling some partridge rock pullets that are probably about 10 weeks old now. I got a couple from them and I have to say that so far they are the sweetest, most friendly girls who I integrated into my flock with ease. Very healthy and pretty girls. He lists them on CL if anyone is looking.

Well, This was my very first experience with chickens so let that be known....Something about empire acres was just off to me. Also, about 2 weeks or less from the time I got the chickens I had to kill one since it had what I am guessing is Myreks disease from all the symptoms. They were all sick and coughing for a while as well. I know it could be stress but none of the chickens from elsewhere got sick when I brought them home.

I did some research and heard a few other negative reviews about them too.

Granted I know the Myreks could have been on my property but all of my other chickens from various sources are fine - some of which I know were not vaccinated for Myreks.

Anyhow, I am not trying to trash the folks at EA or anything. I have heard equal amounts of good reviews but from my own personal experience I will be looking elsewhere next time.

When you decide you need more let me know. I currently have a large batch of Red Stars. I plan to always have a nice batch of layer chicks coming up.
