Maine

Widget, I've never seen your artwork, but there must be an art to lifting 50 pounds over your head!

I like the city for a one day visit, and then I start craving solitude.

As far as chicken recipes go, I do much different things with boneless breast than I do with a whole rooster.
I love just plain old breaded chicken with lemon and Parmesan. I also like chicken paprikash (sour cream and paprika), chickens tandoori (yogurt and lots of spices), and we make one called chicken dogsh*t (due to it's color). That one has sautéed garlic, some lemongrass, chile or cayenne, whatever vegetable you want to throw in, cut up chicken, and then you add thin coconut milk and peanut butter, and a dash of fish sauce. Serve over rice.

It is parent-teacher conferences and I am off school today. I hope to get the giant freezer cleaned out, without freezing my hands off (my hands are always ice cold, even at room temperature). And I'll be entertaining our house chicken, who has not improved much, but is certainly not going downhill.

They look like they are walking around with male genitalia under their heads instead of necks.

It can't be good for me to laugh at them all the time. Ducks don't mind but chickens are more egotistical and fragile

Showgirls are a little cute but they remind me of a puffs kleenex with a used q-tip on top.

Bwah ha, ha, ha.... Poor little naked necks they didn't ask to look that way....

Hoppy the pendant is quite pretty- very opalescent.

Bucka, have you tried the neoprine gloves? Or any?

Widget... for some of us the way we live life is an art. Maybe you are one of 'those' special people :) I bet you can glitter and glue with the best of us! ha ha ha

Anyone have the link for the christmas or egg decor thread??

Hoppy - that pendant is so beautiful! If I didn't have a date with my sister I'd be coming to the grange to bid on that!

Egg ornaments... Must go find that thread... Oh of course there is alwasy --- "Pinterest"...

I'm taking sealed bids if you can't make it.. hint hint

my other thought for the poultry auction was to offer up a pair (2 birds because silkie are unsexable at a younger age) of paint silkies. this would be 1 paint and 1 solid blue/black.
would anyone want to bid on these? these would have to be picked up here or around augusta if you could't make the auction.

Okay, I am totally overwhelmed now. I confess, I am an art teacher that knows NOTHING about crafts! I have been taught pysanky and I have those supplies, but that craft seems too Eastery.

So, some questions. What is mod podge? How does it come (large box, tiny bottle, etc)? Where do you get those little stickers, and how do you avoid the plastic ones that don't stick? Does mod podge go over the stickers, or under them?

Every year, the teachers in my wing distribute small gifts to each other: some sweets, jam, or something like that. Strangely, most teachers give the same gift every year (there's the fudge lady, jam lady, the guy who gives a snack along with a small handcrafted pin, etc). I have not found my niche. One year I gave homemade bars of soap, another year I sewed cloth Christmas "gift wrap" bags, one year, I was stumped and gave nothing, and last year I gave reusable shopping bags made from the Purina bags.

I have a ton of Purina bags, but can I hand them that every year? I'm not so sure. So, this egg decorating thread caught my attention. Maybe I could make everyone an egg ornament (although I don't know if they all have Christmas trees).
What if I painted on the eggs? Would acrylic be appropriate?

Sorry, way too many questions. Perhaps I should just sew the feed bags....

Mod Podge is like paint on glaze that dries clear. It's a protective coat. It makes the egg shiny and also keeps the rub ons from getting cracked or starting to come up on the edges. I do the decorating with rub ons, then a layer of Mod Podge, then a layer of sparkly Mod Podge, then another layer of clear.

I bought the rub ons from a variety of art stores. In Waterville, the one next to Hannaford across from CVS... Joannes maybe? In Augusta both Michaels and AC Moore. I also bought some online, the online store had the most variety and best ones but I did find a lot of them in Augusta. I found easter ones too. I do the eggs and then put them in either a basket or a clear vase as a centerpiece.

Some people did paint their eggs, some just glued beads on.

Others made other things out of eggs (not mine):

I'm sure you can always give feed bags... I love mine!

Hope this helps. Sorry to hijack the Maine thread.
