Maine

This is completely non chicken or other poultry related but I need to vent for a bit.

First issue was today at work. I was summoned to a meeting with the big boss and my sort of immediate supervisor. There were two other workers also summoned. One at a time we were questioned about an incident from almost two weeks ago. I felt like I was in an episode of Law and Order being interrogated as the main suspect for a triple homicide. What happened isn't important but it boiled down to I should have reported it the minute I found out about it (Friday afternoon) and not wait until first thing Monday morning. Yet my actual immediate supervisor wasn't in the day it happened and the only other supervisor I was comfortable going to was also off. So I waited. And the other two employees including the one who reported the concern to me also waited. None of us felt that there was any danger to life and limb and that the incident could wait. So now there are three employees who feel that they were criticized for bringing up a concern all because we chose to bypass one supervisor. Who knows maybe the big boss actually picked up on the fact that the three of us have issues with this one supervisor that goes way beyond this one incident. Of course my coming out and telling him exactly how I feel about interacting with this supervisor should also be a huge clue. The hardest part was that the supervisor I have issues with was the other person in the room.

Second issue was at Hannaford's this afternoon. I had three items and was all set to go through the self checkout. Both registers were occupied. One with a lady who had a cart full of stuff. The other register had a lady who was done scanning and was getting ready to pay. Great I thought. She should be done in a minute. Nope. For her $10 purchase she paid with dimes and nickels. After she inserted each coin in the slot she checked to see how much more see needed then dug through her ziplock baggie of change to get the next coin. After a few minutes there was a break in a regular checkout line so I was able to finally purchase my items. I know the coins were probably the only thing she had for money but there is also a bank inside the store that will exchange the coins for paper money for free.

I'm sorry about your day Widget :( What is it with Hannaford today? My mother had someone go off on her, complete with following her through the store and requiring a manager to be called while checking out. All because she looked in her direction while trying to find something. :idunno

No idea. Earlier this week I walked by a lady pushing a card who asked " Am I crazy?" There was a child in the cart so I hope she was talking to the kid and not me. I didn't answer but did think "Yes". My guess is she was looking for something and just couldn't find it.

Your day sounds frustrating, Widget! I hope tomorrow is better.

Hannaford is crazy right now...almost thanksgiving....I forgot something this weekend and I must go...and I am afraid! So many people...and so many carts...I get cart rage...like road rage- I just want them to get out of my way so I can get my groceries and leave, but nooooo someone has to have their 5 kids running around in front of me while they text on their phone.......

Thank goodness for the nice people though- last week I only had 2 things in the express check out, and the lady in front of me had about 10, and let me go ahead...this makes up for the not so good times.

I went to Hannaford's to pick up something for a co-worker. I really didn't need anything but decided to be a nice person and help her out. She needed some of the canned cinnamon rolls to use as a crust for an apple pie. She had heard about the recipe and wanted to try it for Thanksgiving. Sounds interesting, Unfortunately I won't get a piece of the pie to try.

oh, you never know, you might.
ugg, my son wants to make cream puffs, and i already went shopping, meaning being the nice person that I am, I will get them so he can have cream puffs. Widget, i know the recipe your co-worker is talking about, looks really good.
and yeah, someone actually noticed that I lost alot of weight.

makes me feel good that people actually are noticing enough to say something. down from a size 12 to size 1.

holy cow!! thats a lot of weight lost!! congrats to you.

I picked up the last two heated electric dog bowl waterers at Tractor Supply for my birds. Now I need to actually get them plugged in and working. Yet, I find myself thinking OMG I'm gonna burn my chicken coop down!!!!

I already have electricity out there and just need to get an extension cord to get the waterer in with my Buckeyes from the outlet. My OEG bantams and the two Buckeye's that prefer to hang with the little birds can have theirs plugged into the outlet direct.

Also I am not getting any eggs!!!

Going to work on getting a timed light to come on at 4:00 am over the long weekend. Hopefully that will work. Oh and I need to add some more nest boxes. Ladies aren't sharing with each other.

DH killed our lame hen yesterday. We had her in the house for 10 days, without seeing improvement in her ability to walk. I feel badly because she was so alert and had a great appetite, but there was no way to put her back in with the flock if she couldn't walk. I will miss her, but not the constant clean up of smelly, soiled newspaper and spilled water. Life goes on.

All the shopping stories have me anxious about having to go out and pick up some things today. It seems like black Friday is being pushed up to Wednesday now. I am thrilled, though, to have this day off.
