I free range my chickens with my geese and turkeys during the day, yet am concerned about blackheads disease that's brought on by the infestation of the insidious cecal worm. I'd like to know what other poultry lovers use as a cecal de-wormer, how often you give it and if it actually works the first time or if you have to use it multiple times or if it only works as just a preventative measure every few months or so. And when you use it, do you dose your chickens (the potential carriers) as well as your turkeys, or just the turkeys since they're the ones that actually GET Blackhead's Disease. Any information would be greatly appreciated and helpful, since the more I seem to read about it, the more confused I seem to become.
Thanks.

Most people worm their birds twice a year, and do all of them. There is a lot of info on this site about worming, a little research will make you a virtual expert. Remember the worms are the vector, not the actual disease organism for blackhead. Blackhead is also treatable, but you have to react fast, so I recommend keeping some Metrodiazinole (not spelled right, I'm sure) tablets, just in case. Amazon or eBay are a great source for that, as long as you are planning ahead.
