Major swollen eye RIR rooster

This is what my flock's eyes look like when they have respiratory infections. Twice I've had respiratory infections move through several birds in my flock, and they'll have eye swelling, sometimes to the point of the eye swelling shut, and they have all recovered naturally on their own. A few times I've administered antibiotics and they recovered faster. I have not had a diagnosis because I've not lost any birds to this. Hopefully sharing my experience can help!

What were the other signs? None of mine are sneezing or anything except the normal little sneeze now and then after dust bathing or drinking water

Taking him off the roost after dark probably would be the best time to attempt this. You could also place him inside a wire dog crate with food and water for more easily treating him twice a day. You can use saline or eye wash, QTips, tweezers, and tissues or gauze to help remove the pus. It may take more than one session. Once pus is squeezed out and the eye seems clean, then flush the eye before applying the medicine. Oral antibiotics may be helpful as well.

Ok we cleaned the eye with gauss, and saline. Either we were too chicken or there wasn’t a lot of puss. We squeeze from different angles but nothing really came out except a little from the corner. We will try again tomorrow I guess but here’s some close ups of his eye and before and after cleaning it. Watching the video again, they pushed really hard on the eye. Is that really ok? Im
Normally totally fine with anything, blood, puss, culling, etc etc…but eyes for some reason have me hesitating.

Hi. I don’t have any advice beyond what has already been mentioned (eye ointment), but I really hope your boy recovers. I have a big beautiful RIR roo that reminds me of yours and I’d do anything for him. Such good boys
