ETA: I'm in a very rural area. Went to vote at 11 am and there were three elderly gentlemen ahead of me. Two of them were at the wrong precinct place and were directed to the other polling place across town. I was actually gone from home for only about 20 minutes round trip. Oh, I was number 214 to vote at my precinct today!

I live in a mid-sized town. They broke our polling places up by zone, so the lines are shorter even tho there's record numbers of voters turning out. Minnesota consistently leads the nation in voter turnout - Most elections, over 80%. I think it'll be significantly higher than that this year.

Anyway, voting took me 5 minutes fron the time I stepped out of my car, until the time I was back in it. Yay!

Ours go up every year. Our monthly mortgage payment, since we have the taxes included in it has gone up over $200 since we bought the place. And we have lost schools, library hours, busing etc etc. And now the mayor is thinking of shutting off street lights.

My dh was going to close the office early so that everyone could get back "home" in time to vote. Well him mostly, since the polls close at what? 7pm? He doesnt usually get in until 8.

And there are other voting options, like mail in absentee voting. Which dh was going to do but forgot and didnt get the info in time.

When I walked into my office this morning the first words out of one of the guys mouths was "Did you vote already?" They were letting people go early, even us 3 part timers so that we would be able to get to the polls.

I think this time around people are standing up more for their RIGHT to Vote. People are talking about it more. Companies, large and small and bosses are hearing them. It's a good thing.
