making a dust bath

Ok, so i'm making a dust bath in a tub for my girls, can I put sevin or permethrin dust in there? (making an enclosed one) Put DE in the mix as well?? thx for the help

I used one of my horses old feed tubs. It's cut from a 55 gallon plastic tub. I split a water hose to put around the top edge to give them something to grip. I put dirt, wood ash and peat moss. Mine sits under the covered run. It works great!

It has been cold enough here lately in the evenings to justify a small fire in the fireplace. I just took a couple of buckets of fireplace ash out to my birds dust area and they are crazily kicking up quiet the cloud of dust.

When people say to add wood ash, would pellet ash be the same?
