Making duck home (for 2) on retaining pond good or bad idea?

We are considering taking a friends 2 ducks. They have been living with chickens & are not getting along. We have a nice retaining pond that is approx. 8' deep when full. It has natural grasses, etc.This year it has been full, but last year it was easily half the size for 2 months in the summer/fall. (We'e only been here a year & half, but probably common to decrease a bit over the summer. We would love to give the ducks a nice home on the pond, but have read that they're poop could hurt the pond. We would get a coop with a run & let them out for a few hours each day. That should be okay, shouldn't it? Thank you.

2 ducks would not hurt that pond for a couple of hrs a day. And they will love it and you'll enjoy them on it. But be sure before you let them on it to make sure no snapping turtles. They will eat ducks.
When the pond is low of water give them a kiddy pool they will love it too. Ducks love water they don't care what it's in. Most of us aren't blessed with a pond.

I am wondering how we would safely get them back to the coop when it's time, so predators don't get them. - tempt with treat I imagine
