Or you can make your own cabinet incubator out of a cheap/free piece of furniture or cabinet and purchase a new tech thermostat, fan, and humidity control from Incubator Warehouse.

No homemade ones for me. I've asked many breeders and they all say no to homemade

Buy the old one.... things are not made to last these days it seems.

Though I will admit shiny and supposedly reliable would be nice. Technology has come a long way..... :barnie  I hate having to make decisions. :)

Quite a few experienced breeders in this site only use homemade cabinets. Done properly, they can be just as reliable as the manufactured ones.

Keyword for me *done properly* I really don't have time to mess with homemade incubators, school, birds, track.
 
I'm so happy! My dad and I are going to build a Cochin breeding coop, and a chick coop this spring! Granted there was a lot of screaming and yelling involved for about 15 minutes at first

As someone who has adolescent children I would like to say I think its wonderful that your interests lie in something other than video games and junk food. I wish you all the best in your endeavor. You've got some great advice here and you have some great plans of your own. Go for it! There will be some struggles and upsets along the way but I think you can use it to learn and adapt.
